Default Cam in my LT1

Thinking about camming my 94 LT1. It has 84k miles on it and is stock except for exhaust. I don't want to put a little LT4 hot cam in it because I want to put a decent sized one. How big do you think I could go and any suggestions?

It depends on your budget. If you got the money to spend go custom cam from lloyd Elliot otherwise a cc305 with stock heads or cc306, gm847 and a couple others. Make sure u buy new springs !

Personally, I would do the heads at the same time. You're all ready there when you tear it down for a cam swap. Save a little bit more for a set of ported heads. JUst my 2 cents.

So the car is stock w/ no bolt ons? I'm surprised no one has told him to invest in headers and a few other bolt ons first. Take a look into headers first. I have some LPP for sale and Mac Mids as well. Gotta get that thing breathing first before you start throwing on ponies!

Yeah, that big cam is gonna be smothered by the stock intake and exhaust.

But otherwise, i would go with the cc503 if it is street driven a lot because you are gonna want to retain a lot of down low torque. If it gonna be a weekend/track car i would go with the cc306 but you should really port the heads if you're gonna go with something that big.

This is sooo very true, my head gasket blew on my car and i decided to throw a cam in while the heads were off, i went with a fairly small cam too its a 212 219 .530 .540 and you could tell that cam alone chocked my stock manifolds out, the car would launch like a bat out of hell from the torque but it would slowly kinda feel like it was being held back as i went into the higher rpm's becuase the exhaust couldnt escape fast enough.

threw my long tubes on and holy lord! its a world of difference.
