Cool Motor mounts.

I need either prothene of solid motor mounts for my 96 LT1. The factory rubber has already worn out after less than 2 years. I need something a bit tougher. Ok, alot tougher.

My car shakes a lot more and has a few more rattles with the polly mounts. My factory ones were shot as well.

You can buy them at autozone part numbers 3.1116G and 3.1127G For black mounts or 3.1116R and 3.1127R for red mounts. You can also get them off summit. I have the Energy Suspension performance polyurethane motor mounts and i dont notice any harshness. I like them and the fact that they wont break. This thread will show you how to install them http://www.camaroz28.com/forums/show...e+mount&page=2

What i did because my dad is a welder is clamped them together and had him weld them together all the way around. I dont think they will ever come apart.

I'm running ES Poly Motor Mounts with a factory rubber trans mount and it is very very smooth with no shifter slop. I have a 383 w/ the cc306 and at 800rpm idle there is no shaking and the motor stays completely still at a choppy idle. You won't be disappointed in their product. I also ran them on my Ls1 with a 110lsa cam and they held up very well.

I have both the ES motor mounts, as well as their tranny mount. Did the "mod" to the tranny mount, and I have no complaints....

I think this is the weak link in my shaky idle -- bad motor mounts. I've got the Prothane transmission mount, and have a torque arm mount, swaybar endlinks, and bushings on the way. Sounds like its time for some motor mounts too.

You can't go wrong with either Prothane or Energy Suspension

I have ES poly motor and trans mounts....absolutely no complaints with them. They are a little rougher, yes..but they will last. They did soften up a tiny bit after wearing some.

Thunder Racing Has poly mounts. About $29 for the tranny mount, and $59 for the motor mounts right now as I'm posting this. I have these and have more vibrations now than compared to stock. Nothing ridiculous but, it is noticable.

You do not use the "preload plate" that ES includes, and you also grind down the two "nubs" that are part of the polyurethane.

so i have the stock rubber tranny mount on my car which i have broken 3-4 times but i think im gonna stick with it cause i dont want the vibrations. But from what everyone is saying the prothane motor mounts are good or energy stuff is good correct? will i get vibrations from having those motor mounts?

I am in the process of installing the Prothane Motion Control set I got from Summit. They had all three in a set. All I have to say is you had better have a powerful drill and sharp, quality bit to drill out those $*&(*&^ rivets. What a PITA.
As a side note, I have read in other threads that if you want the transmission part, you had better do the motor mounts as well. Something about the vibrations being different between the two causing problems if you only do the tranny mount. Only what I read, not from personal experience.

Madman makes solid motor mounts for the LT1. Anyone using them? Or have any experience with solid motor mounts in general?
