dream LTx build
Im looking for lt1 longblock that would make 500 rwhp n/a and handle a 250 shot.
that said lets here some dream combos you guys would build to acheive these goals
not evern sure where to start?
396 shortblock...internals?
AFR heads? what cc etc.
custom grind cam?
solid or hyd roller?
like i said i dont even know where to start so lets hear some recepies

cola 3.85 crank, Oliver rods, JE custom n2o pistons. 4 bolt block.
LE TFS 215cc heads opened up as much as possible. 315.@.700. Large solid roller cam, shaftmounts. With a converted intake or the LT1 cut and welded. As&m monoblade. 12.5.1 comp. Done deal Than a direct port kit from n2o outlet.

I'd do full ARP hardware, and splayed main caps.
you could use a factory block. I would use probly a eagle forged crank, h beam rods, and JE pistons.
I think NX makes a direct port kit,......I know someone does. its like $1100

Any one can list parts, but combination is whats going to matter, it's a combo thats nailed down that makes the power, not a list of brand names. I have seen countless summit catalog syndrome, picking the baddest parts and throwing it all together then wondering why it can't get out of its own way. Some one mentioned the figure $15K, on a build such as that, $15K may not get you all that far if the car doesn't have what it takes to support a motor making that kind of power. Ask Brett on here, his LT1 made the power y'all are talking about and the effort it took to accomplish those goals are more then what I think most are in for, so to speak. Takes quite a bit to get a car that even coming from a mild motor set up to make that power and do it for more then one pass or dyno pull.

On the internet....we may need incredible amounts of money to make this kind of power... New "insert hot manufacturer of the weeks name" parts...etc etc.
The LT1 is nothing more than a reverse cooled SBC. 600Hp SBC's are a dime a dozen.. You probably have a decent engine builder local to you that could whip one up pretty quickly.
The combination that was used to make the 786 is as follows. This was done 5 years ago... cheaper / easier parts availible now.
Scat ICR-5700 rods
Speed-pro flat-tops
Ported Dart Pro-1 200 SBC head converted to ltx
Ferrea FP-1000 exhaust 1.600 -6000 intake 2.055
Proprietary SR cam. ~240/255 .660/.630 106/110
welded factory lt1 intake
Holley 58MM T-body
T/D 1.6 rockers
Hedman 1 7/8 headers
TNT plate, NOS bigshot solenoids.
I would think you should be able to reproduce this today for ~8K.

So what are you taking? $1k for fuel, $700-$1k tuning, $1,500 for tranny, $2k for rearend, $and another $1,500 for suspension products? I am guessing those prices are semi accurate if he got some good deals, and/or bought used, did install himself and already had all existing boltons(besides many suspension). New tires will def me in the mix too with all that power!

my dream ltx build is for a forged 383 450hp on motor and add a direct port system and spray the hell out of it its kinda cool how im doin that build this winter minus the direct port because i need a good rear and driveshaft to go with it. my dad found a shop that sells a good rotating assembly at the right price i believe its shanon engineering 1500 for an all forged with H beam rods

You described the Ai383R that Rick Abare is running. You could order it whenever you are ready with no thought involved.
As for the $8k build, that is a bit of fantasy land. If a ton of used parts were involved you might stay under $15, but shaft mounts can run $1k alone. Conversion of the heads, cores, porting, block work, crank, 4-bolt conversion etc.
No offense to airflowdevelop and I'm not going to search the internet for prices to prove myself right, but $8k is on the low side to say the least.

Well since you asked... My sig should be a clue.
396, billet 4-bolt, all forged, AFR 227's, welded/radiused/ported LT4 intake (It's not an LTx otherwise )
Hydraulic roller cam something weird like 226/238-117 (MUST BE STREETABLE)
Twin GT4094R's running 15 psi boost (PUMP GAS)
Should be worth about 1100 hp streetable and reliable on pump gas, smooth idle, and you never have to fill a bottle. I bet I could make it run on the stock ECU and 79 lb/hr high impedence injectors also.
