Default Burning Plug Wires

Just wondering what all you guys do to prevent burning plug wires when running long tube headers?

You can run the OTVC looms, i don't on mine, my wires are 10.2mm, i use the factory boot protectors & routed my wires so not to touch or come close too the tubes, the drivers side is pretty easy, the 2 PITA ones are 2-4 on the pass side, it is very tight in there, if you can wrap them in that heat wrap along the side of the block & use the factory metal boot protectors, you should be fine, you just need to get creative, but the easiest way is gettting the OTVC setup.

Some run them over the valve covers some use the spark plug boot covers. A buddy of mine has just ran them under and tied them together to avoid touching anything and he's had great luck. Me...I've gone through 2 sets of MSD because a couple of the wires were resting to close to my Macs. Not sure yet what I'm gonna do when I install my LPP's here soon. Find out when the time comes.

Definitely OTVC and looms, Get yourself a custom setup you can make yourself you can get Taylor wire in 35 foot rolls, then get the specific Opti ends from them and high temp plug boots from MSD. build them and you done.

Put the car on a lift and carefully tie them out of the way of the headers. A jack will work as well.

i was real scared to but i pulled apart the stock ones and mine looked alot better then the ones that were there. you just gotta fold the cable under the wire where the crimp end goes on. make sure you crimp it right and slide the boot on.

Does any manufacturer make a compplete already assembled OTVC kit for an LT1 or is that something you have to make on your own?

Thunder Racing has a Taylor kit for LT1s. It comes with everything you need to go over OTVC. You do have to crimp the 90degree boots, but it comes with a crimper.

I decided to just hope for the best and reuse my stock plug wires. I did buy some boot protectors and heat resistant tape from summit to wrap the wires in. Im hoping this will be ok... what do u guys think?

I made my own OTVC wires using MSD wire components and Made For You looms. I had never made a spark plug wire, and mine worked out OK.
