Wooo! Got it done. It only took me 3 broken drill bits, a burn and 6 hours of my life but I finally did it. What happened was, I didnt realize that the peg on the rag was on an angle so you dont insert it straight down, but just slanted.

Sorry to revive this old thread, but seriously, everyone should do this mod/or the ls1 shaft. I didn't even know there was such aftermarket fix until my alignment guy told me.
INCREDIBLE difference. It feels "fun" to drive the car again. And props to Unbalanced Engineering for super fast shipping and great customer service.
It's sad I know, but it took me nearly all day to get it installed. Mainly because I didn't have the right tools in my garage and I had to run down to the local hardware store twice. If you do it, make sure you have proper drilling equipment. I used a 7 amp hammer-drill, two cobalt bits, a hacksaw, a dremel, about 4 cut-off wheels, and a six-pack of Sierra Nevada
. The rivets wouldn't "tap out" for me unless I had 95% of them already drilled out (I called them "Satan's Rivets"
). Other than that, it's a fairly easy mod. Two bolts and the thing's pratically off the car, in your vice, and painted black.
Perhaps we should mention this !rag mod under the stickied "The Ultimate LT1-Newbie FAQ"?

I wouldn't say its sad it took all day, took me quite a few hours. I view all rivets as some Satan's invention, I hate rivets!! I'll look at balljoints on a truck or something, and start swearing, rivets!
