60' foot times don't mean squat to a stick car, they are looking for the 330' times. FACT. They are not looking for big wheelies.

The total gear multiplication is too great with the A4 (do the math, tranny gear, rear gear) and couple that with the torque multiplication that a good convertor and you'll see based on the tires allowed by the rules don't allow you to get that aggressive with the convertor. We run a Comp Eliminator/Super Stock Mod car and we have switched between stick an auto (and many different 1st gear ratio'd automatics) several times so I do have a semi-decent grasp of the concept.

The first gear selections in the mid 2.40 to mid 2.50 range of the turbo 350/400 match up much better to the 6spd than those of the 3.10 to 3.30 in the A4 in my humble opinion. I'm not saying allowing the 200 metric or a proflite but give the poor auto guys another option.

Thats why we moved the non-OE autos to modified as we didn't want to further widen the gap between M6 and A4 cars

^ It makes perfect sense. People can argue about it all they want, but with these rules that's how it works out.

This is funny as hell!

"Bruno's, Lenco's, and Liberty"

You DO know ONE of those is an Automatic ...right? The others are "Clutchless" meaning you ONLY use the clutch to launch it then just shift....like an automatic..

"Taner is running a 23* headed LT1 thats less than 400 inches.

All the guys you showed have 15* headed(minimum) that are 400 plus inches in most likely lighter cars. Taners car aint light'

You sure about that? Damn just opening my eyes and READING the names and car description blew you out of the water.

"Fastest lt1 6 speed is taner PERIOD (Taner-9.27@151.20,96 SS 399ci Harshaw Racing Engine,
Full BMR suspension. Quickest and Fastest M6 F body. Then there is
Madman-9.18@154,96 Firebird, [b]380ci [/b[LT1 with GTP AFR 215s not a stick
Dave DiLuca "SLED28"-9.11@155, 396 LT1, AFR's, TNT Fogger, 3415lbs not a stick
Spray-9.08@159.7mph, 95 Z28 383 LT1, TH-400, N20 Not a stick
Joey Kenville 9.04@150, 97 camaro, th400, 396 speedtech plate, 3100lbs Not a stick"

I can also count on One hand the guys NOT running 23* heads. I HAVE been doing this a while and i do have a pretty good idea on it

The cars pictured with the wheels up are LS1, I did not even see the post you quoted.

A Bruno is NOT an automatic, it is an air shifted manual with a converter in place of the clutch.

I stand by what I say, take the same car, take the auto out, put a stick in it, PROPERLY SET IT UP AND DRIVE IT and it will run quicker than the auto.

Yes a Bruno is BUT a Lenco is not

One last thing. Do you know what makes a stick more efficent? The lack of a Torque converter. SO if you put a Torque converter in it you have basicly an automatic

BUT if we are going by your definitions then my TH400 is a Manual. It has a Torque converter BUT I have to manually shift it.

I under stand where you are tring to come from but you are not there any more

I have raced fast auto cars running the same times as my car. Even with me in the mid-low 1.4x 60' range I get killed on the first 300 ft. I have stopped their pull by the 1/8th and gain on them on the top half of the track. The advantage to the after market manual boxes is mainly their clutch setup. A slipper clutch compared to what 99.9% of us run is night and day. A slipper clutched manual car can 300 foot with the best auto car then walk on them up top. Most do not have to use a clutch between upshifts. No matter how fast you are with the clutch pedal you still loose et during shifts because your not under power. I love my manual, and seem to be pretty good at it but I still think the car would pick up some et with a good stalled auto. I also have ALOT of money in this tranny and broken parts(some multiple breaks of the same part). To get a manual car to run hard in the first 300 ft is not cheap at all, and its a never ending money pit to keep it there. I'm hoping to go mid 1.3s with my latest setup..but when(not if) this tranny goes I'm probably going to throw a th350 I have laying around in there. Also, ask joe how much money he has in the clutch in that t-56 he runs...its not something you or I can call up spec, ram, etc. and order. Much less what you have to do to the tranny to make it live with that kind of power/setup.
