anyone running this setup on a stock shortblock on the street? like i said, this would be daily driven. and driven hard i am also considering upgrading the oil pump and putting a bigger oil pan on

I've heard many mixed reviews on the stock lt1. Still never really found out the weak point of the stock bottom end>? If a budget rebuild with forged pistons and upped compression, would you be raising my power handling capability or are you still pushing your luck with the stock rods?

I would not spin a stock shortblock past ~6300rpm regularly no matter what the horsepower output. RPM's are usually what kill stock shortblocks, not hp .

been twisting mine to 6500 every pass I've made down the track, and I've got a shoebox full of them now. and few 6800rpm dyno pulls to boot.

granted, the car runs out of steam at 6300, and the few dyno runs were to check where power dropped off at, and I only rev it out to 6500 in 4th when I cross the 1/4mile line..

but still: 101k mile stock bottom end, been ran out of oil once, over heated a dozen times, and the carpet's wore down behind the gas pedal... that otta tell you the life its had.
