Wouldn't hurt to talk to some people who does custom grinds. If your willing to spin the stock block to where it gets pretty hairy and dont mind cam surge and don't need amazing drivability then something big like the GM847 would probaly work real well in terms of off-the shelf.

First off all big cams will sound like big cams. Large duration, tight lsa's will sound like a race car. All sleeper cams are ****** when compard to other specs for other popular options. So you cant really go big with a sleeper.
Now heres an option.

Ls1speed has a custom they do fot LT1's. they call it the Cadallic cam i think. But in any case, it put down good numbers with very little mods and it was said to sound stock at idle. But the car didnt have headers on it, only a aftermarket muffler and no cat. It sounded a little noticeable when you went WOT but not too bad.

they said they put it into another car with LT's and it didnt sound too mean at all. When i blew my headgasks at 121k i was going to do Speeds custom Cadallic at the some time i rebuild the top end. But i was too worried about spinningt a bearing. But i realized it would be too short lived and a small shot of nitrous may be better. But i will stoptalking about me.

On both cars ls1speed did use 1.6rr's, so your 1.5's will not make the same amount of lift. I would ditch them for 1.6's.

But if you really want to do a sleeper i would do heads instead of a cam. Run a quiet muffler and a cat. It would sound like a bolt on car. Its going to cost 600-700 for a cam swap when your all said and done. You could get Le1's for a little more (750). Now the heads wont provide the power the cam will but it will be silent as ****. Le1's with 1.6rrs for some added cam lift, that should make some good power and be quiet while doing it.

xe224/230 all day. 350rwhp with a m6 car and all the bolt ons.
gm847- 350+rwhp but it needs revs, so if you dont take it to 6800rpms you not really going to see the extra power.

with the 224/230 you only need to rev it to 6400-6500 rpms. But both cams will want 3.42/3.73 gears.

It's a tough choice, but there's quite a few good choices out there. What exhaust are you running? What rear gear ratio are you using?
If you're going to reuse the valve springs you have, make sure to have them checked.

If you want to stick with the 1.5 crane golds, & your already running heavier springs, then you should just go with a custom grind, i would check the springs & make sure there good (also good enough for the new cam), you already have a 4K stall, if you don't have gears, then you should get some, do you have all the bolt-ons?? I would contact lloyd Elliott & talk with him, give him all the specs on the car, he can help you out on a grind, most likely he will recammend one with a 550-560 lift, or in that area with 1.5 rockers, thats if you want to stay with your crane golds.

The GM 847 would be a big cam you could go with. If you are not going to build the bottom end then you stand a good chance of something going wrong though with this cam choice. A wiser choice would be to look at Lloyd's custom grind 232/240 .584/.584 108 LSA. It would really open things up for ya.

Im goin with a custom grind, but if your wanting to go with an off the shelf cam that makes decent power and sounds awesome id go with the CC503.. Like the thread up top says, "its know to be the Biggest cam you can go with on stock heads"
I was actually lookin for this cam before I decieded to go with a custom...
You can go to YouTube and type in "Stealthformula" and see how his sounded.. with a full exhaust, catback..etc..(he actually posted on here, lol)
