4000stall on LT1
Well after buying a new ford 9"(4.10) i dont think im gonna be able to afford to have a built 383 with LE2 heads and cam setup right by the time the season starts back up. So instead im thinking about buying a new torque converter. My question is would a Circle D Racer Series 4k stall be to much for an LT1 with Roller Rockers as the only motor work? lol Also i have a TH350 trans(2.52 first gear), and a race weight of 3080 if that makes any difference. Track car only.

Yea ill call and talk with him, i've heard alot a good about them from good friend of mine james(TxCamSS) and other fellow racers, so thats def who ill be going with. But dang yall make it seem like a 4000 stall is nothing lol. So ill guess ill pose one more question: Whatcha think about a 4500stall? lol Im thinkin about going for the bolt on record and showin 1SlowFormula how its done so definately want the best i can get out of my converter!

Well, the stock motor doesn't spin too high; I think if you go too high on the convertor you may be leaving some useable power available down at lower rpm. But, if you're able to hook at that rpm then why not.

ok called Chris w/ Circle D and he recomended that i go with the 4C converter. He said that 4000 stall would be plenty on a stock LT1 and that a 4500 may not leave enough room for rpms to drop down enough after shift. Going buy there tomorow to pay for it!
Hey Robs94Z, did you have a stall already when you ran that 12.23? Me and you would be a good race! Cammed Car vs. Weight Reduction Car lol

I'm in with compstall on one concern, how much useable power are you leaving under 4 grand? Cam and heads motor or a 383 would definitely love that converter, but not sure about a stock engine loving life with that behind it.

If you are seriously after a record, go with Caprice's advice. Buy an ATI 8" MRT converter. They are having their Winter sale right now. I have purchased a bunch of 8" converters over the years and have always found ATI's to be quicker.

Go with what Gizmo said if you want a record.. I am more of a street/strip person so would say go with lower stall for your stock short-block's sake.. but if you want it to just be a track car like you have stated, you obviously have a daily driver.. and a rear-end... so if you can hook, go for the big stall.. 4000 would be plenty for me though.. I'm gonna be happy with a 3600

I dont really plan on gettin it either, due to the fact of the big ford 9" about to be in it. Plus 1SlowFormula is insanely light to a point i dont think i can achieve. But i tell ya what, I'll be damn happy with the second fastest bolt on LT1 in the world!
