I spin a mid 220s duration cam to 6500 as do most others running cams of that size.

Comp's rpm ranges are based on gen 1 stuff and fail to consider the ultra short intake runners of the LT1 raising the rpm range for a given duration.
True story.

There alot of factors that come into play as far as where the cam peaks. The most being LSA.

I run a 254/254@.050 and it peaks at 6600 with a 108 lsa. WIth heads many say are too big and a super vic conversion.

Get in touch with Bret Bauer or Ai, dont take ANYONES word on ANY board, the variables are way to far out there to consider it. None of the guys in this post have simulation software. They will input the whole combo.

Crower ground me a little cam for my 355 when it had a six speed behind it. made close to 400rwhp, had to have to run 89.8 mph in the 1/8 mile weighing 3800lbs. That cam was a 224/230 @.050 on a 112 lsa. It peaked at 6600.

I have no idea why so many people are afraid of RPM, 6500 aint squat, even for a stock bottom end. I have seen stock cast cranks. "pink" rods go 7400 in a stick car no problem.

Mine does about 90mph in the 1/8th and I think you will agree it is heavier so it must be over 400rwhp??? Cam is pretty close on duration but a little tighter LSA only rev it to about 6500 max. Best estimate on peak HP rpm is 61-6300 from looking at the acceleration curve in datamaster.

Far as rpms on a stock shortblock, how many cycles is the engine put through, are the rods rebuilt with better bolts?

I think the rods are nice and strong, BUT think of how many times the poor rod bolts have been stretched and from the rod bearing failures we have seen I think most of us agree the stock rod bolts are the weak link, not the rods themselves, the bolts allow a little wiggle taking out the bearings.

I have that exact cam and a local shop/buddy did my heads....im about 430 rwhp(need to tweek the tune) and shifting at 6700....moe bailey did my tuning and said he was impressed considering my setup.....if you want ill give you the number for the guy who did my heads...ohh and it was roughly half what most port jobs cost....although certainly cant say anything bad about lloyd

displacement affects rpm range for a given cam, shifting at 6700 with a stroker means higher than that for a 350.
