LE1 budget head/3k convert/ LE1 cam/ daily drivers..
Any of you guys daily drive a LE1 budget head and or LE1 cam.
also a 3k converter.
how do you like either or all of those components for a daily driver.
in a month or so, im going to pick up another lt1 short block and rebuild it, and am thinking of using the LE1 budget heads, and LE1 cam and also a 3kish converter. i average about 100miles a day, and over 15k miles a year, so i need something that works good, has great drive ability and runs good. this will also be beat on everyday and raced at the track 1-2 times a month.
so what kind of first hand experience do you guys have with these parts?
thanks

As long as you have all the accommodating parts and not too exotic of a cam, you should be good to go... I'm assuming you are going with Elliotsporkworks?
I was also looking around at his head/cam packages.. but thats going to be way down the road for me.
use those LE1 heads and like a 228/235 cam and you should see some pretty good numbers..

thanks guys.
i want it to idle like my 231/239 voodoo roller in my chevelle but drive like stock. which i know is impossible.
yeah Elliot portworks heads and matched cam, because this will be a budget built dependable daily driver. im thinking of a cam in the high 21x to low mig 22x duration. i had a 224/230 comp xe268 ft hyd in my last 350 in the chevelle.. it was biggest of stock converter, drove nice, and would blast the tires off until the powerglide started to slip. so who knows where ill go.
thanks again.

I use to DD my car when I had a 3600 Stall, 224/230 cam, and 3.73's and I loved it. Wasn't at all too much the only downside was the shitty mpg but the car was a blast to drive. I now have LE2 heads and a cam he use to offer (224/230 .570's lift 107lsa) and the car is AWESOME on the street. For the miles you drive everyday I would not want my setup but a LE1 setup with a 3000 stall would probaly make for a very nice ideal DD setup, I would imagine it to be very comfortable with plenty of power on tap.

i would if i had a motor to stick it in. i dont even have a spare lt1 short block yet.
i am also currently doing suspension on the chevelle, which s going to set me back a lot.. re valved bilstein shocks, true coil springs, spring adjusters (tells you how low it will be huh?, lol), sway bars,
thanks again guys.

Nope having Bryan Herter do it for me next summer. Yeah bout Iowa I dont want to talk about that Atleast we are in the Rose Bowl, got offered a ticket for face value today! but I will be in Florida so had to pass unfortunately. About 355's...I can put one together and figure out how to get to target CR's and stuff like that but not up to par with the best quality/lightest name brand components.
