I see no point in the 918 for the price of the Patriot kit.
The Patriot kit comes with duals springs, titanium retainers, locks, locators and new valve seals. This is a better spring and lighter over the steel retainer people are suggesting. There is very little cost for the the Patriot and I promise this spring will outlast the 918 .
The 918 works great on a Ls motor, but there is far less weight in the rockers compared to an LT. This seems to be the thing most people don't think about.

I have the 918s on my TA, I had zero install issues, everything went in great, no machine work needed.
I think I have about 5 to 10K miles on them too
What ever you decide to do, call the Tech line from whatever company you decide to buy from, it will save alot of trouble.

918's also had a bad batch made some time ago also where tons of them broke. If I am not mistaken.

That is true, I think it was early '06 or even '05, cant remember for sure.
But since then some people have started to believe this stigma about Comp Cams stuff.
Believe half of what you read on these forums when it comes to complaints, and trust only 1/4 of that

The bad batch issue is far in the past as mentioned. We use a lot of the PAC springs which is what the original 918 was, but from what I understand they sourced a cheaper option for the current 918.
The 918 is a good spring and if setup properly and not abused ( cold motors ) they will last as mentioned and seen by other responses.
I was just stating for the final cost I feel the Patriot kit is the way to go.

the pariot kit looks pretty badass and at a good price point. But to play devils advocate here, the overall mass of a 918 kit with ti. retainers will weigh a decent amount less (relatively speaking for a valvetrain) then the patorit kit. You only have a single spring to move and a real small ti. retainer vs. there bigger ti. retainer and a bigger dia. duel springs. I have the 918 ti. stuff in my car so im a little bias, lol, but just throwin some more stuff out there to debate.
