My car ran an 11.72 in September at NYIRP. It was 81 that day with moderate humidity. It was saturday during the day, around 2 or 3 oclock iirc. A test/tune day with a points race for the Mustang guys.

You never mentioned anything about traction, just the weight of the wheels. Street tires can be drag radials too. You DO KNOW that they are street tires don't you? My car runs street tires. They are DOT Drag radials. When you specify that they aren't street tires, i'm assuming you mean slicks. There you go again with the feeble minded bit, LMAO!!!!!!! I've racing for about 20 years now, i'm not a drag racing noobie. A shitty street tire will screw up the launch, nothing more. Once your car is moving over 30mph it doesn't matter if it's on slicks...unless of course your car is setup like ***, lol.

What the hell is wrong with you guys? Go away! Go find somewhere else to catfight with each other! I am trying to gather some info here so I can make a decision about just what I want to do and you two are turning it into your own little spat house. Kripes I feel like I walked into a grade school on this board.

Fastmax,
I cannot compare the Lingenfelter cam as I've never tested one.

As for the cc305, the 114LSA does give up some midrange punch, but allows it to have a broad power range & also to pull well up top. It also has a reasonable idle. Compared to a stock 350, I would take the 383 w/ CC305 anyday.

For a litle more punch, there is a comp 218/230 cam that is a little more aggressive on a 112LSA. It may be better power wise for a N/A setup, but will idle worse. Not sure exactly what you are after in terms of driveability, mileage & emissions.

I also could part with my CC305 if interested, since a big solid roller is going in soon.

Thanks for the info Lonnie. Just FYI Dynosim sure likes that camshaft a whole lot better. It starts to pull away from the 350 at about 2700 RPM and ends up besting it by 40 HP @ 6000. That seems more like what I was expecting. That cam still seems pretty mild, especially in a 383, I dont think it would mess up my whole sleeper facade. I will check into it a bit more.

Roy;

"opinions" are what you will get here...unfortunately the "know it" all Caprice owner had to add his pile of crap.

My $02 would be to contact a machine shop of choice (LE, AI, etc) and discuss a custom grind for the 383.

QFT!!!

I like Lonnies replies in here too. He seems to be 100% unbiased in all of this. Just going from his personal experience.

A 383 when generally make more AVERAGE torque than a 355.

A 383 setup properly will ALWAYS make more average power than a 355.

I think your HEAVY convertable runs pretty well considering it has home ported heads and a very small cam. My buddies full weight vert weighs 3925 with his 210lb self in it.

The 383 will be much more fun on the street, if you do build it pop for some better heads to make it worth the money.
