Default LS6 lifters...

I am installing Corvette LS6 lifters of my 1997 Camaro SS LT1. I was curious....will this change the length that my pushrods need to be as well???

That might actually be what they are. I bought them a while back for my Z28 but my SS needs them more at the moment. I am almost positive they are LS7 not that you mention it. They are pretty much the same specs as the LS6's though arent they? Specifically affecting the pushrods...

Best way to make sure is the check yourself. ls7 lifters are said to be a little taller so you might need a shorter pushrod.

I am hoping they do because I am doing a cam swap and in the meantime replacing the stock lifters with the LS7's that I have since the old's have to be removed for the swap anyways. I am not buying pushrods though so when I do the swap I will compare the stock height with the LS7 height and if the same I know i'm good...otherwise I will consider ordering some chrome-moly rods or sticking with the stock lifters...we will see.

shouldn't be, from what I have read on here, if you ask for LT1 lifters you get the LS7s from the parts counter, so if it's not a direct replacement, GM wouldn't sell it as such. The pushrod length should remain the same.

I hope so, it would be a nice addition to the overall integrity of the engine lol. I will be more comfortable with those in than the stockers with all the mods that I have on the SS

All them Lifters measure the same from what I have seen. I have LS7's in my current Engine.

This is where i was basing my information off of. https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...ifference.html From what they are saying the travel was increased so you can prob run the stock push rods but I would still measure. I have also read that they are the lt1 replacement lifter.

Not true, Neil. Working with Lloyd on my custom cam I asked him the same question as I am going to put the LS7 lifters in for good insurance when I have the cam done in a month or so. Lloyd, said I will probably need slightly longer PR's as the LS7 lifters have a .100 deeper cup than the LT-1 counterparts. Therefore theoretically .100 longer PR's, but I am going to measure the length to be sure when putting it all back together so I don't order the wrong length.

Not 100% sure and you will see in dozens of threads on here that you need to measure to get the accurate length. Prob more safe to stay with the stock length instead of risking running too long of a pushrod if you are not going to measure.

You need a relatively cheap pushrod length checker tool. You install it in place of your pushrod, install the rocker and spring, and adjust until proper lash is achieved (with the piston @ TDC of course). Take the measurement, then order the PRs with the length you need.

And IMO, this guy hits it on the head. Why take a chance when the decision is split in the LT1 community? Find out for yourself what YOUR application needs. Be safe and just measure it. If you need 7.20" rods, congratulations. At least you know for a fact that's the length you need.

A .100" might not sound like alot, but if you're anything like me and you want it done right, just measure the damn thing and don't take the chance.

Agreed...I just didnt know how to do that stuff. I know engines and all until you get to the insides of the block and heads lol. I know thats the meat and potatoes so I am educating myself and you guys are my way of making sure it IS done right because you have more experience. Thank you all! I'll track down the tool to check the length and go from there! Thanks again!
