So are you trying to use the '95 wire harness that is in the car, or the '97 wire harness that came with the new engine?

I was under the impression that the newer '97 harness should plug right up to the body harness and work perfectly, as long as you use an OBDII PCM with the newer harness.

The car didnt come with a motor or trans.. the pcm and engine harness was gone also.. So we used our wrecked 97 trans ams motor, trans.. but was told they would not work because the body harness wouldnt work with the newer sensors such as knock sensor and crank sensor? but i do know you have to run the same pcm year as the harness year? So i could run the 97 harness as long as I have a 97 Computer?

I'm confused..

Are you trying to put a 1997 Engine and Tranny into a 1995 Car?

The Engine will work as long as you use your 1995 Harness & PCM with the 1995 Car, you don't have to connect the Crank Sensor. The 1997 Tranny will not work with 1995 Wiring and PCM.

The Car, PCM & Wiring, and Transmission have to be all from 1995 to work with each other, or all from 1997, can't mix them up. The Engine is the only variable, and if you are trying to put a 1995 Engine in a 1997, then you have to have the Crank Sensor on the Timing Cover, and all 1997 Wiring & PCM, and Trans.

Another fckn reason I switched to LSX.. lol

yes, i put a 97 motor, and 6spd manuel into the 95 trans am. I had the 97 engine wiring harness.. the 95 car didnt come with anything.. they must have left the 95 harness and pcm with the motor.. So your saying I cant even run the transmission? whats the difference in them? so my worst case senaro is put the 97 Body harness in? which is how much work? why cant i just use a 93 wiring harness and pcm?

You will need to move some of the wires around in the C100, C210, C220, C230

Check out the pinouts here the other ones are tabbed along the bottom of the page

I think the guy was referring to an automatic transmission, I don't think it matters what year (95/97) the T56 came out of.

You are planning on using a computer & wiring harness from the '97 correct?

Incase anyone mentions the 2nd plug on the body (passenger side fender) which is connector C105 is just for the traction control. It can be ignored if using a 93-94 harness/pcm. Not sure if 94 had traction control, but it is not needed.

The good thing about a manual, is just that, its manual, even if you have nothing plugged into it, it will work, mind you that you won't have reverse lights or a working speedometer, but it will work, lol.

Your 97 engine harness with 96 or 97 computer will work fine. Or you can still use the 97 engine harness with a 1995 computer and it will work. There will just be a few connections on the 97 engine that will be ignored.

Either will work fine with the body harness. Nothing you have to do, there.

You don't want to go back all the way to a 93 ECM. They are a different animal.

If it's an A4 harness, it will not allow the t56 to go into reverse. If its an M6 harness, you should be fine. I not, PM me

What? All you have to do is remove the reverse lockout solenoid and replace it with a freeze plug...easy.

Besides, he said he is swapping the parts from a wrecked car...wire harness will match the transmission.

Oh true! I didn't read the part about the wrecked car. And why would you wants to remove the lockout solenoid? Makes no sense to me It's there for a reason. Now skip shift is a totally different story
