Default Opti cap removal tool?

Alright I'm getting ready to install the timing cover, opti, and waterpump so I need to remove the cap on my new opti and locktite the rotor screw, but I can't remember how to make the tool. I know you have to use one of the torx screws that comes from the tb plate but I can't get it to stay in place and I don't wanna ruin the threads on it.

Go buy the correct inverted torx socket, grind the shoulder off it so it will drop down in the hole.

If you're interested in a socket, use a thin-walled E4 inverted torx.

the inverted E4 is a ************ to find, I couldn't at any parts store so had to have a local shop do the swap for me

go to LT1engine.com for the info on how to make it

you just need the throttle body plate screw, a 1 nut and 1 wingnut

Or take a throttle plate bolt to the hardware store, get another longer bolt with the same size E4 torx head, jam nut and wingnut and make your tool for a buck or two.

SK makes one, and you don't have to grind it. It's number 42604.

The rotor screws are 6-32, Torx headed screws. To install/remove those screws, I have one of those "bits" that's 1/4" square, and fits into a "screwdriver handled" tool. The "bit" is stamped "T8"

I purchased my E4 from Pep Boys just in case anyone is looking for one, they were the ONLY ones who had it and I checked everywhere local to me.

I was wondering that as well. My smallest socket is still too big to fit it

I would think NAPA or a tool truck would have one...like Snap-On...but they would be pretty expensive if you are only doing it once. I have a couple different sets of various torx bits and I purchased them all from the Snap-On truck or Sears possibly.

Yeah, Autozone cares them too. It has a yellow label and clearly says E4 on it.
