Default ls6 valve springs

I am pretty sure I am going to try this set up?(Gm ls6 valve springs+787 comp retainers 105lb@1.75/320lb@1.2)$100.I read on a vette thread a guy ran these on a 95 vette with the cc502 cam +cc 1.6 rockers, and just dropped them in right in place of the stock springs, left 1.74 instead of 1.80 installed height and he checked the springs to these specs. The springs have 90lbs at 1.80 and to get them there you run off-set locks, but is not needed on lt1 with cams in the .550 range.Ok, now that all out, what do you guys think? He has been running this set up for 18k miles, and shifts at 6,100 to 6,200.I love bang for the buck,I am really leaning towards this set up with the cc502 cam.

I'm curious what the spring rates on the 98+ Chevy 2.2L (non ECOtec) engines is lol They have Beehive springs!

I think you need different spring seats for GEN III/IV springs in a GEN I/II motor.

the 2.2 springs are about 50 psi on the seat. they are like wound up paper clips.

i am running the comp 915 springs on my lt1 everything fit fine. i measured the seal to retainer clearance at .538".

I know for sure ls6 spring fits the seat/spring locater. The impala/vette forum guys are using the ls6 springs, but when you use the ls6 spring+787 retainer with our (seat)the installed height is 1.74 instead of 1.80,but thats good, because it makes the seat pressure about 110lb.Max lift is.550(1.740-1.160=.580-.030) for clearance.I just wanted to know if anyone on here had ran this set up?I know seems to good to be true, and would not be a good idea with a radical cam with alot of lift.

I still think the best deal for cost vs. quality is the Crane 10308 dual spring kit. You can find good deals on them...when you can find them.
But your idea is interesting, if you go that route, post up your results/review.
