NEED HELP with sensor I just got a 97z, it has a p600b on it. Right in front of the throttle body the sensor, i believe its the IDLE AIR TEMP. There is no sensor there, there is a plastic piece that resembles one. The hole for it is threaded. When i went to Oriely's the one they showed me was not threaded....
Has anyone had the same situation???

IAT sensor on mine is not threaded. It is held tightly in place by a rubber grommet since I have a aluminum intake elbow. I think it was just a snug fit into the rubber stock elbow.

oh.... for a Forced induction setup, it may need to be threaded in and this is why you have something different. I never thought of that. Beats me, as far as I know, in stock form it is just a push in, snug fit type thing.
The stock one is a push in with a grommet, but they do make threaded ones. Just not for our cars. And it is the IAT sensor.
I went down to the auto parts store and got a grommet for a PCV valve and used that with the stock sensor, just secured the sensor with a tie wrap because it started to push out at high boost.
If you want a threaded one, you might ask in the FI section. But you need to either find the sensor (if it is still on the engine) or the pair of wires that connect to it.
You really need it, BTW. My STS kit just tie wrapped it to the radiator; when I found out I put it back where it belongs so the PCM can use the correct readings.

I have the plug in... its just the plastic piece thats in the elbow is hollow, its not a sensor, just a hole straight through. it has the clip and everything for the plug in. what is BTW? thanks

If you are asking what the Intake Air Temperature sensor, it is one of the sensors the PCM uses to determine the fuel to air ratio.
