Default cc306 question

I have two questions about the cc306. I have a 383 with a baby cam from nu-tek. I wanted to go a little bigger and found a deal on a cc306 out of a 94 camaro. When I got the baby cam, I remember them talking about it having to be a small base circle cam. My first question is would this cc306 cam out of a 94 fit in a 97 and my second are all the cc306 cams small base or is that something you would have to special order?

Not sure about the small base, but I do know that the 95+ LT1's have a longer dowl pin in the cam for the Vented opti that the 94 doesn't have.

I'd think that it won't work. You can give Comp Cams a call and have them look up your grind number and see if it will have any clearance issues in a 383. Even if you got an all clear, you would still have to install it and see if there are any clearance issues with the rods or crank. I would order a special small base circle grind. Better peace of mind.

I am pretty sure this guy I know has a CC306 (off the shelf) cam in his 383. Not positive though, definately worth looking into.

I ran the cc306 in my 383. Trapped 115 on stock tune, stock heads and stock throttle body with 3.23 gears in a 6 speed. This was an Eagle bottom end with 5.7 I beam rods and ARP bolts. The assembly was good for up to .600 lift according to the manufacturer.

My car is running a cc306 right off the shelf in my 383. I dont think you need a small base circle to run the cam.
