Question High Idle? Hard Shifting?

Well now when i start her up she starts at 1K and when the temp gets to about 160 degrees it jumps up to 1500K. Also if i put it into gear it bangs in Hard! if i turn the car off and let her sit for like 30 seconds and restart it she idles fine but then sometimes acts up when im driving.

I have replaced the TPS twice (once to replace stock one and second one i got wet). I also cleaned my air filter, and MAF about 500 miles ago.

Any Ideas?

Oh yeah Im not getting a SES light either!

With a high idle I would suspect a vacuum leak or a bad IAC valve. Shifting...no idea, I don't mess with those autos.

I would take it out and thoroughly clean it with carb/TB cleaner.

Test the voltage:

Ok so i replaced the IAC and the EGR and its still doing the same thing!

I have replaced the TPS sensor already.

It only does it when the Car hits the 160 degree mark then the RPM's jump to 1200.

Can bad O2 sensors cause this?

IDEAS?

If the problem only happens when the car warms up, it could be when the car just swithes form open loop to closed loop. That's when the car starts to use the o2 sensors and MAF. I would check to see what your o2 readings are saying and I would remove and clean your MAF. You can disconnect both the o2's and your MAF for a test. Let the car warm up and see if your problems still occur. If they don't then either your MAF or o2's are bad.

Yeah i cleaned my MAF about 500 miles ago and it was having this issue, but it did not fix it.

I will try to disconnect the MAF and O2's like you said and see what happens. I have a extra MAF from my wrecked Camaro so well see!!

The Motor Has 130K miles and i dont think the MAF or O2's have ever been changed.

i agree completely with the vac leak.

did you install the TPS correct? matching with the spline turning it IIRC counterclockwise then screwing it in?

I have checked for a vac leak and found none. if i did have a vac leak it would be constant not just certain times right?

I installed the TPS correctly it has been working fine and its been in for 6 months now.

Thats why im like is the TPS cuz i had HIGH RPM and Tranny Would Bang into gear hard.

If it is the TPS why would it go out so quickly?

What kind of intake elbow do you have on it? If its a stocker or 1LE, check it for rips. That's a leak often overlooked. Anything behind the MAF will do it.

I have an aftermarket aluminum elbow painted red.

I will try to disconnect the MAF and install the other MAF i have and see if that works, then i was thinking or replacing the TPS again?

Leave it and the o2's disconnected first, see if it helps.

What's with the eyes? It's a valid test to see if your MAF or o2's are bad.
