LOL, dude, he's talking about a MSD crank trigger, not a MSD opti, he's looking to ditch the opti altogether.

The above being stated, why are you looking into a different ignition system? If you got the money, go ahead, but they are expensive and not necessary unless you have a pretty radical set up. The stock ignition will suit 99% of the set ups out there. Hell, the OEM opti has gone in the 9's. What's your set up?
ime building a 383 10.5 cr i have had to replace a few opti and im not so sure the whole efi setup is all that great. just lookin around
What brand were they? I'm guessing not AC Delco or Delphi (the two OEM brands).
Nothing wrong with doing your research man. Your set up is nothing out of the ordinary. I'd buy an OEM AC Delco opti, thread lock the rotor screws and you should be fine. Like I said, the stock ignition system is more than sufficient for your needs.

i thought you were gonna yell at me... haha so mine being obd1 speed density can i make as much power and tune as well. i know you have to remove the chip and get it reflashed, and my car is batch not sequential which limits some tuning on fuel

All you have to do is convert to a OBD1 '94 wire harness and PCM.
