I have bullets. I have heard Spiralflows on the internet. Hard to judge how loud they are though. Are they significantly quieter than bullets? I want to get something that won't draw as much attention from the bacon, but still flow and sound good. Plus ground clearance is an issue already. This will be with LT's and a 3" x pipe. Thanks.

I am running the spiral flows dumped, compared to the bullets i think their close at idle, and wot i am thinking the spiral flows are louder IMO..I love em
I dont think any type of race muffler xpiped/dumped will be quiet unless you go with a chambered muffler

I had a spiral flow on my racecar and it was pretty quiet at wide open throttle. That setup was a Y with a single 3" spiral flow.

I put two 3" spiral flows on my Camaro to quiet it down over the Bassani that was on there and it didn't help much, just changed the tone a little.

My guess is the Y on the racecar helped decrease the noise vs the duals on the Camaro.

Hmm, I figured since they were the same muffler basically but with the Moroso have that spiral core it would have quieted it down some. I would put a chambered muffler on it except, I don't want an ugly *** cat back set up and I want true dual with an x. Not an ORY. That why I am stuck where I am. I just figured they would be quieter....damn it. Back to the drawing board I guess.

If you go to the bumper I bet you could sneak a muffler in in front of the axle and maybe a pair of glasspacks behind.

The stock b-body system uses mufflers under the rear passengers and resonators in the quarter panels, a few of the aftermarket performance setups follow this same basic design and it lets you run straight through mufflers but still quiet the exhaust a fair amount.

The system I have started as a Dynomax UltraFlo system and I have modified it quite a bit now but I have Dynomax UltraFlos under the back seat and small glasspacks with tips in the rear quarters. Is not quiet but is quiet enough that the neighbor who's bedroom is 3 feet from my driveway doesn't mind me leaving for work long before sunrise. Never had any trouble with police for the noise even when stopped for speed. At the track I have been told it is too quiet for the times it runs.

Been awhile since I was under an f-body so I can't picture the space you have to work with, but I still think you might be able to run a couple small straight through mufflers in series if you go all the way to the bumper.

The summit catalog lists the Dynomax bullets as having 2-4 decibels of sound reduction and the Moroso sprial flows as having 5-7 decibels of reduction.

i seen people use a 3" x pipe and still fit chambered mufflers dumped, unless your lowered ground clearance shouldn't be issue

my .02, buy 2 of them, some people buy only one, yes it quiets it but it also killed almost 50 rwhp on the dyno!

whick muffler killed that much Hp? surely it was the spiral flows the bullets are straight through.

yes i should have pointed that out, Spiral flows. what I have read is guys with 2 of them only lose a little bit of hp. it makes a huge difference.

I believe that was a member here, i almost sure it was a full race motor.
I see alot of members here running spiral flows that dyno in the right area

I am willing to dyno both and see if the numbers diff, i only have the mufflers clamped on right now, so i should be able to get em off easily

the spiral flows go straight thru the center, it has a spiral design on the sides

At the time of the video it had a 242/248 XFI cam and LPE CNCed stock heads and all the bolt ons. The video doesn't do the sound much justice, it's way better in person.

i have them with an xpipe in my cammed 355 in my chevelle.
decent at idle, and pretty loud at wot. not as loud as bullets.
im going to ditch them for pypes violator mufflers though. they sound aggressive, almost no drone, and should be louder than the moroso's.
i have read that joe sherman of sherman race engines seen a 100hp drop on a 600hp motor with the morosos. but i dunno how true that is.

the guy i speak of has a 98 SS, and not a race motor at ALL. but he did lose 50 rwhp! unbelievable. I think moroso makes great products! that surprises me.

here is my dyno run.


my old motor with 7psi oil pressure and minutes before the exhaust lobe wiped out.



new motor start up (same as dyno, and same as track pass below)





motor is a 10:1 355 with voodoo 60122 roller 535/550, 231/239 110/106. brodix ik180 heads. it has more in it, needs more tuning.

camera quality is not greatest either.
