The tune they sent me for the LE H/C was so bad the dyno operator refused
to run the car. PCMForless refused to many any changes for me and told me
the car must be broken and it would never run properly until I fixed it. I had
to spend time with a friend and his laptop to tune it on the street until it was
close enough that I just took it to Ed for a proper tune. Ran just fine after that.
In fact, I put down 390rwhp though a 4000 stall on a little 22x/23x cam.
"Broken"

I'm not the only one who feels this way, search around.
IIRC someone recently refered to them as the "McDonald's of the tuning world"

Moral of the story is that Ed has been doing most of my tunes for 10 years
and he's never let me down. I've tried others, been burned, I'm trying to save
you having to learn the hard way.

He recently lowered his price, see the thread over in Speeddensity.org

[EDIT] Following this post, my $157 was refunded by PCMForless.

He tuned my 93 with a GM847 and it runs perfect.

Alvin tuned my car like 7 years ago, mail order. If add a mod I tell him, send him the a/f chart he fixes it. Sometimes hard to get a hold of but always fixed. I could never get hold of Ed Wright and don't know if he still or even does chip cars. I've had no dealings with Ion but I hear he also responds and has satisfied customers. I doubt anyone else could get any more hp out of my car. Granted it's only a bolt on 3900# car.

Wow and the 93 owners are coming out of the wood work. Silly question wouldnt updating to a 94 harness and pcm be better. sequential injection able to tune it yourself for 120 bucks. Just wondering?

Would need a trans swap or something to make the PCM work with the trans. 93 is a 400R4, 94 is a 4L60E.

well mine actually came with a 4L60 non electronic from the factory. I would just rather not have to change the harness and computer out. And if i changed to the pcm wouldnt i have to go to the MAF????

I was just kinda wondering if getting a tune would really help me out or not. I plan on getting heads/cam LE2 but it will be a while. I have been working out of town too much to pull them and send them off.

so if you do or dont think it would be a good idea to get the tune done now any advice would help me out.

Thanks, Mike

BLASPHEMY!!!!

Ok .. JK

But seriously... lots of changes ... doable if you had a few donor parts
(harness, MAF, TB base, IAC, O2s, etc ... ) and emissions stuff if you want it.

SFI itself doesn't seem to justify the change, but making it easier to tune might

it may be easier to tune because all you do is adjust the MAF settings, but if you ever really start looking into the cars that are making lots of power and putting down good numbers that track, most of them have changed over to speed density. i know once i get my 396 built im turning my MAF off and having it tuned speed density. speed density cars run HARD!

i wouldnt let them touch anything with a 10 ft pole. i have a pcm4crap tune, i hate it, my car has never legally passed smog, it ALWAYS thinks i have bad 02's (i dont), drive down a hill and tap the brake, the car will cut out and fall on its face, i had 2 stitches in my lower lip from smacking the steering wheel, twice it didnt start back up i had to pop it in neutral and turn the key or i wouldve drove off into the hills.. put my stock pcm back in, car runs just fine. i hate mail order tunes, by the time they get it anywhere close to being right, you couldve had a real tune, on a dyno, and paid the same price. im surprised by all of the people in here saying pcm4less did a great job. my opinion, stay far away from mail order tunes, they ARE generic tunes. have someone tune it the right way, its well worth it.

Wow, some thing's not right
You should really get that fixed before it hurts something (or you ... again)

Have you made any changes since you ordered the tune?
And was the tune supposed to be set up to match your build?

I'm having a hard time understanding how the RPMs dropping will cause the car to DRASTICALLY slow down with a stalled auto?

I have a PCM4less bolt on tune in my 93, never had an issue car passed emissions perfect, it did what Alvin said it would. He's doing the tune on my new set up and until he proves me wrong, I wont bad mouth him or band wagon. The thing is I have "heard" bad things about every ones tunes, minus Ion, I had a buddy with a Ed Write tune in his 93 Z28, never was happy with it when some one else looked at it, it was all sorts of off. I have a friend with a tune in his turbo 355 96 Z28 from Bryan Herter, it's a good tune. There may be a mechanical issue rather then a tune issue, you got to keep in mind, you tear a car apart for a h/c swap, you mess with a lot of stuff, who's say a sensor wasn't installed incorrectly or a ground not on great, it happens. But seems people automatically blame who ever tuned the car. Also every car is different, thats where data logging comes in to play.
