I would agree with most of what everyone else said. Definitly over 150, but not much. 160 or just a bit more maybe.

My Hypertech tuner on my 1995 Z28 lets me select a 255 speed limit. I believe that is the limit of Z rated tires that came on Z28's.

You can make a brick go 308 mph with enough power. As demonstrated by the 3rd gen. lol

Actually, the 3rd gen firebird has one of the lowest drag coeffecients that GM ever produced. I believe that it's in the neighborhood of 0.29, but I'm not positive. Not that 205hp at the flywheel will get you to 200, much less 300, but it will push 140 with a 305, T5 with 3.27 gears. I know.

there was actually an article in one of the Chevy mags about a third gen F-body going 200mph with 300hp (crank) it involved some firebird parts lowering? no mirrors light covers etc

here is a link to some coefficients of diff cars

I believe with the right gearing and a car preped for the purpose, you could do about 185 or so in a mild street motor (~350rwhp). The car would need to be lower than most of us would want to drive on the street and the nose, lights, etc would need to be smoothed or taped. The suspension and tires become the next issues. Seriously though, there's not a lot of reason to discuss this unless you're planning to run one of the 1 mile or longer events. If anything goes wrong also plan on meeting Jesus, anything over 150mph hitting a stationary object would completely destroy the car and kill the occupant.

A stock C4 can go 165mph, as well as an LT1 9C1 caprice. and if you believe that, i have a bridge for sale in brooklyn.

A stock C4 can go 165. Go spread your miss-information somewhere else.

About aerodynamics... I would like to say that we have from anything I can think if of... One of the most aerodynamic cars in the world from the factory... Yeah we don't have nice areas where air can weave in and out of the car generating down force and stability... But our cars cost $ compared to $$$$ it takes to get all of that fancy body designs.. Lol

If a stock f-body can hit high 150's to low 160's there's no reason why a C4 cannot hit 165.

4th gens are far from the most aerodynamic cars from the factory. 3rd gens were far more aerodynamic, and vettes blow us out of the water too. Not to mention the multiple family/economy cars that are far more aerodynamic.

I thought a stock LT1 C4 went 155. even so there is no way that car was going 165mph with those 2 caprices right behind it.

I said one of the most aerodynamic cars.. 3rd gens are a hair more aerodynamic... And when I say our cars it was including all fbodys.. They have always been more aero than most anything... I also stated our cars cost $ amount.. Yes for $$$$ you can get a more aero car but it will cost you.. What economy family car is more aero and has the performance to back it up as our cars do.. I am being serious not a dick..

4th gen's aren't nearly as aerodynamic as you think they are. This is just off a quick google search so I'm sure there's a ton more than this since the list is kind of dated.

I raced my buddy in his NA-T Supra a little back when I was still cam only. 3.42 gears, had the Street Lites on it then, stock height tire, 6 speed car...buried the needle and kept going for quite some time. My buddy said his speedo went to between 160 and 170mph. I figured I hit 150ish, went back and didn't realize he had his GPS on, he hit 161mph...and I was ahead of him.

i searched for a good 10 min and couldn't get a list like that.. and how are our cars not very aero?.. look at them compared to 99% of the list... you would think our car cut through the wind with ease.. but if you were to take that list and say aero and performance the list would cut in half... then say aero/performance/cost there wouldnt be many cars in that list... and thats what i am saying for the cost plus performance... there isnt much around that beats an fbody.. correct?
