so yes some gains should be made not sure how significant though
I have AS&M mid tube headers with 2-1/2" collectors. My exhaust use to consist of runnin through the y-pipe, no cats., thru the stock 2-7/8" pipe all the way straight out the back no muffler. Now i took of the merge collector on the y-pipe and extended both pipes about a foot or so longer and dumped it. I noticed about 5h.p. increase from the switch on the same dyno. If i get my car back today ill take some pics of the setup.

Yes both of those companys do make true dauls, but they are dumped dauls.

No one else besides bassani makes true dauls out the tail pipe

Unless you go custom, and the gains are worth it

I love how this is done, im going to do this on my car

Also I had speedinc true dauls dumped with long tubes, sounded amazing but it was very loud.

Well worth the noise to me! Ls1s have a scream to them

I am now thinking more seriously about creating this TD setup I described in the opening post. After pulling the cats from my ORY, I have ugle rasp with my LPP LT's and the Borla.

I think the key to making this work well is the muffler. I have only found 2 mufflers that have 2.5" dual in and out. The Dynomax X flow and the Pypes. Are there any others? Anyone have opinions on these two?

Maybe look into putting 2 small (but big diameter) resonators in where the cats where. If I ever remove my cat, that's what I'll be doing, so I can try and keep the same exhaust sound as it has right now.

I'll try to get some pics of it. But I'm running a set of Edelbrock Victor headers with 3 1/2" collectors. These neck down into a 3" SPL Y pipe. The SLP Ypipe is cut off and welded into an xpipe. That worked out well because for some reason the Edelbrock headers were wider apart at the collector than the SLP headers were. hmmm. The xpipe exits into 2 SLP loudmouth "resonators". The resonators then side exit.
Yes, it is loud. Yes, the 1 7/8" primary headers killed my off idle torque. But my car pulls really hard from 3300 or so on up. The only problems I have with my system are that Steve (at AReal Muffler Shop) didn't install it the way I asked him to. He didn't bother to maximize the ground clearance so the system scrapes more times than not. And he ran the driver side exit pipe from the right side of the car and under my torque arm. The movement of the torque arm has bent the pipe down even closer to the ground, further minimizing ground clearance.
As loud as it is, I like this option better than exiting the exhaust UNDER the car. I don't really dig breathing exhaust fumes that tend to build up inside that way.

This is what I hope to make if the price is right:

What if I got a couple of medium powersticks, as opposed to the dual in/out muffler, just like what is used on the GMMG. Whould it be insanely loud or just right?

This is basically what I'm running, but with side exhaust. I'm running dual SLP resonators right after the crossover... and yes it is LOUD. lol If you're running under 550hp, that Dynomax crossover muffler is a good plugin with this setup. Or maybe even a pair of smaller mufflers hung right at the exhaust, like the Corvettes do.
As far as resonators and mufflers go, if they don't advertise that they quiet the exhaust note appreciably, they probably don't.

Its down to the dynomax x flow muffler or a pair of the powersticks.

Can anyone comment on how loud the GMMG (which uses powersticks) is compared to any other catback? I have a Borla now. How would it compare to that?

Has this come to fruition? If this worked with my ARH 1 7/8 with 3" collectors, I'd be down.

This is giving me some good ideas on how to make true duals on my car.
