Default Impala SS head gasket

ok lemme get some facts straight.
in order to put them on my car, all i have to do is tell the parts counter guy at a dealership that i want head gaskets for a 96 impala and those should fit right?
(i thought i saw somewhere that is had to be for aluminum heads)

it should bump up my compression ratio to 11:1 right?

If I were you I would pick up the Victor Reinz .026" instead. They are cheaper, the part# is 5898. When I did my head swap I was doing alot of research and found that the Reinz's were cheaper and will give you a tad little more compression over the "Impala" one.

so what you guys are saying is that going from a 049 camaro to a 039 impala is going to give you 05:1 and if so what will the 026 head gaskit do.... im going to be puting a bigger camaber head on my car soon. my comp is 10.7:1 with my stock heads and im goint to a 65cc heads and i think with a 049 gaskit it would be 9.8:1 i want more compression

I thought, from what I learned in the thread I made, is that F-Body is .051? Though really I guess it doesn't matter those .002" heh

Stock 10.42:1
.039 : 10.74:1
.028 : 11.06:1
.026 : 11.12:1

65cc w/ .026: 9.65:1

I can't remember which aftermarket one is the .028 now :\ That's posting just waking up for ya! (The CRs are taken from a calculator, so don't worry)

That's using these for specs, which are educated and got me the 10.42 for a stock LT1 and allowed me (with the rest of the LT1 specs) to get the 275/325 in Desktop Dyno.

The "cheaper" replacement Fel-Pro is .049". The better (dont remeber the p/n) is .039". I am using the better ones that are 2x the cost IIRC.

fuel, if you have already had the machinework done to the block and you know the mains are true, why not disassemble the bottom end, take it back to the machine shop and get them to take a four corner measure and deck it?

+1 on that. And if at all possible, maybe see if a bit can be shaved off the heads to make that combustion chamber a bit smaller. Or just shell out for some domed pistons
