Default Bout to pull the trigger....

...on building an LT1.
I was going to sell my lt1 and buy a ls1 roller and build a LQx. But I think I've decided to stick with the LT1.

I'm aiming for low to mid 11's on motor and well into the 10's on spray.

Build plans:
AI 200cc heads and custom grind cam
383 with cast crank and forged i-beams with mahle slugs
200 shot
I'm wanting to try and trade off my trans for a th400, but no luck so far.

You think that combo will get me where I wanna be??

Yes, that combo should get you there, but get a th350 instead. It take less power to turn and a properly built th350 will last.

If built right you will be able to meet your goals no problem. Speed_Demon hit 120mph in the 1/4mi in his full weight Z28 without the proper gearing/tire combo on road race suspension with his AI/stock block combo.

Ok, so I am new to the world of heads....I have 190cc AFR Heads...what is the difference exactly between 190cc, 200cc, 215cc, etc in regards to power gains, durability, etc? Also I have been told AFR is a very good brand of head for the LT1, but what brand is better, AI, AFR, Trick Flow, etc??? Sorry for the ignorance...

I would not hit a cast crank with a 200 shot on top of an already stout H/C package.

i kinda agree.

and the heads afr are good heads but 190cc heads are a bit small for a 383. the difference between the sizes is how big the intake runners are. the bigger they are the more potential flow. and the more flow the more potential horsepower. more flow isnt always more power though. if you have a set of afr 190cc heads id call up llyod elliott and see wat he can do with them. im goin with the trickflow castings for my 383 they seem to be pretty nice heads

It'll be on a progressive controler. Won't be all at once.
