air pump removal
Just remove everything. The piping can only be removed if you destroy it. If you have a 93-95, use a M22 plug for the exhaust manifolds. 96-97 cars use an M18 plug. Plug the hole in the intake elbow. If you have an OBDI car, as long as there is a good fuse in the system it shouldn't set an SES light (although there have been reports of an SES setting in this scenario). You can have the SES tuned out, though. OBDII cars will set an SES - same deal.

If by chance when you unplug the EGR solenoid, and it throws an SES right away like in my case (apparently I didn't tune it out enough), all I did was cap off the solenoid vacuum lines and then leave it plugged in. Doesn't do (actuate) anything anymore, but keeps the SES from tripping. I saw no AIR triggers in my primitive 93's tune, but with the fuse IN and just unplugged AIR pump (which RamAir mentioned), didn't trip anything for me.
