Anyone ever heard a 180 Degree exhaust LT1?

I think a lot of thedirt track cars around here run these. You can always tell. They sound a lot higher pitched than the ones using regular headers. They are always faster to due to the car having more money in to them.

Well very easy to see if its a 180 header or not. The primaries are all the same length, so the back two cylinders are coming way up and twisting around to equal the length of the fronts. So in the end it just looks like an insane mess of primaries.

It's more than just them being equal length, the middle two combine with the opposite bank's end cyl.

So 3 & 5 merge with 2 & 8.
4 & 6 merge with 1 & 7.

The equal length makes it so the exhaust pulses (pockets of exhaust if you rather) are timed perfectly and fall in line so make it sound like one continuous exhaust note. Compared to what we actually have, which would STILL occur with equal length headers.

oh i see. My bad. I thought equal length and 180's wer the same thing for some reason.

Exactly, or get it to fit under the front of the car. I think if you were going to try and ideally fabricate a set of headers (with maximum performance in mind) the simple idea of this combined with the space constraints would not make it optimal.
