i still can bore out the stock LT1 block to 4.030" and even up to 4.060" and what i know is that the maximum safe stroke is 3.875" for the stock LT1 block.

do you have links to the LT1 block you mentioned?

Most likely one of the fabled "GM Raceshop" blocks. From what i've read on the net, they made more than 5 of them though. Not a lot in total, but definetly more than 5 of them. There was one on ebay not too long ago.

It is! The serial number is 1 of 5....I'm editing my original post, and adding pics.

If I'm not mistaken it can be pushed to a 496ci...If you look at the pics you can tell it originally used a BBC cam, and they used bushings to run the LT cam. It is also a siamese bore like the LS series.

Unless the cam centerline and deck is raised and the pan rails are pushed out, I doubt it would go 496. At 4.185 bore, that would require a 4.507" stroke. With the stock deck height, you would have to sandwich the rings into a 0.3" section at the top of the piston, assuming a 6" rod (which would still have a terrible rod ratio).

No, not even close to that. It is a 'Bowtie" version of an LT1 block. It is substantially stronger and already bored out near 4.120 iirc.

Here's a pic of what was on the outside of the crate of the one that was on ebay not too long ago. You can clearly see that it says 4.120" bore, the rest is a little fuzzy, sorry. Maybe someone should go to their local Chevy dealer with the part number, lol.

If you squint it is easier to read.

We haven't taken the block out and spec'd it to determine the deck height. If you'll notice the rails are pushed out from factory.

If you will look at the pics posted you will notice our block is 4.025. Also, last time I checked LT's are not a siamese bore. The "Bowtie" block is not closely related to the LT block aside from a couple characteristics.

I was drooling at the pictures you posted. Take a look at the pic I posted. I guess they made a "batch" of these blocks in all different bore sizes. The one that was on ebay (where I got the pic from) was already taken out to 4.120". It is serial number 1-013, the one your friend has is 1-005. That means that there must have been a minimum of 13 of these made assuming the one that was on ebay was the last one made.

How did your friend acquire it?
How much did he pay?

Shoot me a pm if you could please!

Does anyone know the GM part #'s for either one of these blocks ( 1 of 5 or the 1 of 13 batch) ?

I'd cut them a check tonight for a 502+ inch platform. I'm thinking force fed + big inches = broken parts. =0
I'll need to build up my drivetrain a bit more Sounds like fun! Traction may be an issue...
This option will sap my savings of at least another 70K if it becomes available. I'm not holding my breath though. I don't see a high demand for such an option from DART. Only if you were willing to pay an exorbitant premium for being unique yet competitive in the 1/4 mile would you drop the kind of dough needed to build and keep a car together with a big inch LT1 engine build. Sponsors perhaps...?

I'd take one also........ and take one as soon as they came out if I could use my internals that I have already.

6 bolt mains to ward off crank walk or some way to fix that issue for 1k+ hp and better head clamping force for more boost.

If you cant make upper 550+hp all motor with the stock block you are a retard anyway.

You can make 1000+ with a power adder.

Want more? Go to a standard small block or (GASP) the LS platform.
