Default 2-piece rear seal adaptor to use 2-piece crankshaft?

if i use the 2-piece rear seal adaptor in LT1 block to install a 2-piece rear seal crank will it leak oil?

i think i was told that i might have oil leaking problem with the 2-piece seal adaptor but i wanted to be sure of that.

You don't need one if your crank is for an 86+

We actually had a thread about this not long ago, and I'm having a feeling it was you who asked haha Seems there was one but it's not really worth it.

Keep related questions to the same thread though so you don't have 18 on-going questions.

With a 1-piece I believe you also need a 2-piece adapter plate.

Canton makes adaptors. They won't leak if assembled right.

If installed correctly you won't have a problem.

I say this without knowing the answer, but I don't see why a 1 piece block and a 1 piece crank would require an adapter...

Because there are no provisions on the LT1 block to accept a 2-piece seal.

You guys are confusing the hell out of this poor guy. It's RamAirs fault when he either typoed or provided wrong info when he said the GEN II are 2 piece seals. Immediatly after that, Abdullah made this thread. Poor guy doesn't know what crank he has, what crank he needs, or probably even what his block is heh

thanks for the replies. actualy i know what i want (smile). i want a 2-piece rear seal adaptor to install a 2-piece crank in a Gen II LT1 block that has 1-piece rear seal (maybe you call it 1-piece rear seal adaptor, i don't know). i thought the 2-piece cranks would be cheaper than 1-piece crank and i have more options with the 2-piece crank. i will do more research on that.

btw, any one knows if i get the stroker kit which shop is excellent in balancing the stroker kit that i might buy?

thanks.

Glad you were able to sort out that mess heh

I would think that any crank you can get currently in 2-Piece flavor, you'd be able to get in 1-Piece. That's assuming that you're having to order whatever crank you go with, given your location.

Just remember to factor in the adapter cost in your comparison. So it'd be a 2-Piece crank + Adapter vs 1-Piece crank.

we'll see what the cost for each option is.

It's usually only a few more dollars for a 1 piece rear man compared to a two piece. You would probably spend more when buying the adapter and the two piece main crank then buying the correct crank. Plus you wouldn't have two worry about the adapter leaking.

Quick Reply: 2-piece rear seal adaptor to use 2-piece crankshaft?
