Questions..... I have a 95 formula M6. I have started the project of installing a gm847 and getting my heads and intake ported. I have two questions. Is there anything wrong with the durability of the lt1 oil pump and/or associated components? The other question is what is the function of the tray thing that is attached to the underside of my intake manifold and can it be removed?

That oversized cam is more likely to cause rod bearing durability issues than oil pump issues. You could put a fresh relief spring in the pump though, $3 part.
Pretty much everyone with a fast car agrees stay under 230 intake with the stock shortblock.
The tray under the intake is a PCV baffle, helps seperate out the oil from the air.

I like Melling for oiling parts, that way you are not paying an extra middlemen. You can save enough buying a Melling shaft to more than pay for a heavier relief spring with no compromise to quality.

To be honest I bet Melling makes even the ARP. I have not held them side by side but let's be honest, the stock plastic is fairly reliable so any steel sleeve is going to SOLID. Why would they engineer and product a whole bunch of different ones.
