Default 383 build

Need some recommendations on what 1.6 NSA rockers I should run on the new build and also I'm in need of some 3/8 Guideplates. I found Isky sells an adjustable 3/8 guideplate but they are $50! I guess Comp Cam only makes 3/8 for the big block. Lastly, would the Melling 10554 Oil pump be a good pump to put on with this build? Or should I go with a high pressure/volume pump?

Thanks!

Not the first time I ran a c6 z06 with bolton's and he spanked my *** hard. I'm going to have to run the spray to keep up with you now. You always did have the stronger throwing arm in baseball so I have to have something over you. hahaha

Still got the arm and gunning out guys from left field. Summer ball is fun stuff. Prob won't play this year because I want to rally the car as much as I can. Our LT and LS group keeps growing and growing here. About time you pack up shop and rejoin us back home!

High rpm's aren't good for 3/8 studs bro. I would really look into getting some 7/16 arp studs with trickflow guideplates and comp pro mags. That's a very good combo. I just wouldn't feel safe spinning high with 3/8 stud rockers. Some people say the stud can actually bend. As far as a pump...my engine builder told me that alot of racers now are starting to go back to the standard volume pump instead of the HV. Instead they are running a little higher pressure. My builder suggested about 10 psi of pressure per 1,000 rpm at WOT so if you're spinning to 6,500 you need to be at 65 psi. Not sure on the pumps though I went with the melling m155.

My advice to you is don't skimp on any part of this build. Do it right. You won't be sorry.

I see you're a baseball guy huh? I played in the Cubs organization as recent as last season. Bet my arm is better than both of yours

This is exactly why I posted this up! Thanks man. I will look into the 7/16 being I haven't bought anything yet. Thanks for watching out!

Pump wise that Melling is a standard volume so it should be ok right? If not I will look into that pump you got.

well i went with comps ultra gold rockers with 7/16" studs. even tho i wont be revving to high i dont want them to flex at all. i had 3/8's but i figured i might aswell spend the little extra cash and get a much better set up. the rockers also look and feel amazing! im also running the meling 10554 with the GM white spring. so itll be standard volume high pressure. which is perfect for my street 350 and will be perfect for your 383 aswell. with the guide plates i went with trick flows i think. summit wont let me get into my past orders so when i can ill let you know the part #

I've heard of both pumps being used with good results. There's supposed to be a white sping to run the pump with higher pressure you should look into that. I decided on just using the M155 just like it is since I don't plan on running the car hard for more than about 11 seconds at a time

BTW just want you to get the car right man and if I can help out I will. I'll keep my eye out for more ways to help out.

yup thats the part number. its so cheap and small and overlooked its not even funny but it saves your entire engine lol. def get the 7/16" studs. i wish i had done from the begining but if i did that i would of burnt up even more expensive rockers i heard really nice things about the ultra gold's which is why i went with them. plus just look at them!

if you ever need a part number or anything else let me know man

I tried the GM and trickflow guideplates and they didn't work, if I was you I would just order the Iskys and save yourself having to wait if the others don't work for you.

I also wouldn't buy pushrods till you put the motor together and measure for the correct length.

Nope, they were what AI recommended too. Might have been the heads I used, I found some brand new bare castings that ended up having some issues, so who knows if they were the cause.
