Default Running Lt's and ORY only?

hey fellas, a friend of mine has decided to take off his cat-back and run lt headers and ory only on his 95 Z. Is there any real problem with this other than its redicuosly loud? I told him to at lease put some sort of bullet muffler on it. what do you guys think?

no problems at all. tell him to go for it. i ran mine like that for about a week when i installed headers. mine now has a dynomax bullet on the end of the y-pipe, and i wouldn't change it for nothing. gets compliments all the time !

I ran my Firehawk that way for a while. I didn't mind it but the louder the better for me. No issues though. WOT sounds like a race car.

depending on how my buddy's car turns out, i might just do mine. Im kinda tired of it being quiet. I mean dont get me wrong, i love the way my magnaflow sounds, but im ready for something louder.

Seems like all the best women are

I have a GMMG and LPP headers with ORY that are going on in the coming week FINALLY. It should sound mean. If magnaflow is too quiet you could get a cutout, right?

I never even thought of just running ORY...that may be a bit loud for me and I fear the cops would feel the same way.

well i thought about doing a cutout but decided i could do a true dual setup for around the same price, which is what im doing. But in the mean time i just want something louder. My friend is in the same boat lol.

Just run an open Y, if you don't like it or can't stand it just throw the magnaflow back on. Can't imagine the cops in Corsicana being worried about a loud exhaust I doubt that would be an issue. Been through there before and it just doesn't seem like the kind of place cops would worry about a loud car.

your right that isnt really a big deal. I dont really drive the car a whole lot anyways. From my apartment to work and back is about it. I think it would sound pretty decent. When i first got the car it was on stock manifolds and y-pipe dumped out at the cat. It kinda souned like a farm truck...lol. But im sure it sounds better now.

So there isnt any long term side effects of running just LT's and an open Y with NO muffler and no turn down?

Any low end tq loss?

I wouldnt mind doing that if it meant saving me a trip to the exhaust shop and if it didnt sound like *** or cause any problems

From what I can see most people didnt run it that way for long?

Post up a sound clip. I will be throwing on PS LT soon. If it sounds good I will run it like that most likely for ease of install/weight reduction.

talk about a project being plagued with problems. i got most of it mocked up and welded. Just gotta put it back together. It got too dark and the mosquitoes are horrible! So im gonna button it up in the morning. I wound up putting a single chamber race muffler after the ORY cause it was too damn loud! lol. But as soon as i get done i will post up a clip in the morning.
