So sorry to hear/see this happen to anybody. Someone was certainly watching over that day. Just think...it could be worse.
Good luck with getting everything fixed for the shootout. Hell, just primer that sucker, then go to the shootout..Then after that, get it repainted. It doesn't always have to look badass...Just perform like it

First off, Tony im glad ur ok. Id have ripped him apart with my bare hands, so im glad ur not in jail too.
Second, my mom tells me that with his name and license plate number in our great state you can file your insurance claim against his Auto Insurance without ever even finding him. You will have to tell your own insurance agent about the whole thing but they will do alot of the work. If you dont have insurance you could prob do it through a private investigator or an attorney.
get that dude anyway you can. Maybe the track took a photo copy of his TDL?

That's a really crappy way to get taken out. Kind of like my engine blowing up in my driveway.
In regards to fixing the damage I check to see where the frame is straight again. From there I would cut the front radiator support / frame off from the straight area forward. Redo it with CM tubing after. You can also at the same time you are replacing the fenders remove the extra metal under the fenders. You have the capacity to drop around 55-60lbs off the front of the car.
Take a negative and turn it into a positive. It should also be much cheaper than having the frame straightened, welded, and the work done. You can then take the extra money you win in court, cover your initial investment (less than the quote for which he pays), and use the rest of the money for something else.

Glad you're ok man. Too bad about the car.
Ya know you go to places, any place and they tell you where to sit, where to stand, where to go what to do, what not to do, I gotta say if I were you I'd be MUCH more pissed at the track officials and the track management.
The driver might be some hillbilly f*ck but maybe he really thought he was supposed to go (because he really doesn't know and obviously received ZERO intruction) and to HIS shock you turn off in front of him.
I know at Etown whenever a driver is on a bye run an offical PHYSICALLY STANDS IN FRONT of the vehicle that has to wait for the next stage. If your track had that practice in place this wouldn't have happened to you.
If I were him (and I am most certainly NOT) I probably wouldn't offer to pay either considering he probably really had no idea he was doing anything wrong and this was very preventable if the track did what it should have. JMHO.
