I haven't looked into this aftermarket style LT intake setup yet, and maybe that with some great LE heads would be the flow answer???

I would love to build one of these blocks. I would do a single plane intake with an LSx throttle body, I would want to keep the motor on the stock PCM, but I don't know if you can even do that with the LSx throttle body. Then some ported Dart heads and a nice solid roller cam
A 427 would be badass, but even a 406 would be nice. I would want a really good all around street motor. I could build a 396 and basically get the same thing, but as mentioned before by the time all of the machining is done you might as well get the block and have something "bulletproof"
To get my 355 done I had $1200 in just machining. Align honed, decked, bored, the usual stuff. Then I added a stock crank and rods but it runs good and brings a smile to my face LOL
But I look foward to seeing some build-ups and some new times for our old LT1s

Yea, this was the only reason I asked! I wouldn't really wanna spend a ton of money to make power I could on an LS swap in to my already heavy B-body. I don't think this is a bad thing, LT-1's handled business back in the day but have become the red-headed stepchild with the LS in the same picture. Reverse cooling, opti-crap, and not so great flowing heads(by todays standards) somewhat limit it's performance. I'm not flaming them, I own to Gen II cars and no LS cars. I would definetly be interested in building one of these and will for sure have it's stumbling blocks making it flow and breathe like it should N/A with that many cubes and upgraded stock style induction.

Right on, makes me even more excited, like I said no offense. This deal is going to be held to a high standard. I didn't mean reverse cooling was a bad thing, just a bit different to work with, and limited aftermarket stuff because of this. I really do LOVE LT motors!!!

Powder coat it grey and stick on fake 3M chrome stripes and you'll be good to go .

Dude, seriously. This is awesome.
434 topped with a set of AFR competition ported 210 Eliminators, or even 227's.
and a small shot to "cool it down" LMFAO that would be so fn wicked.
I agree that the cost is one thing to consider though, if you set down and figure doing everything RIGHT, to utilize the extra flow capacity of this block, it will get spendy quick.
Maybe not much more than a properly built 396, but those aren't cheap either "properly built".

Personally if I decide to ditch my TT 383 before I finish it and replace it with a 427, i wouldn't screw around with any LTX head casting. I'm thinkin a set of converted Allpro heads, sheetmetal intake, and a couple turbonetics 70's. Question is, can I sneak it by the wife.

6-8 weeks MIGHT take a little longer, no big deal that gives me more time to save and plan
I got this email back from my engine builder, forwarded from Dart
"Rick,
What's the availability and price on one of the LT Dart blocks? Got a guy who needs one."
REPLY-
These blocks are not going to be produced for about 3 months (I’d guess). They are still in the 3-D phase of making the tooling. Pricing at this point is basically a guess, but I’d figure on retail being about $1900 ish.

No sure how accurate this is so dont blow up about it, just thought i would post it for everyone that is planing on buying one and not just talking about buy one.

While I am thrilled about the release of this block...is anyone out there questioning the purpose? I mean, if you are going to use this block with a single plane intake, carb, converted SBC heads, solid roller, etc, etc...why wouldn't you just build a huge cube SBC motor using a World, Motown, etc big cube inch block?
Dude, you have ove 4500 posts in just over a year... your a TROLL! If you are truly an LS1 guy, then go hang out with all the other GODS in the rest of this site! As a true LT-1 guy, I am thrilled to see a huge company like Dart cater to my needs. Im sure a set of AFR 210's or 227's for christ sake will handle the breathing. And not to mention, the equipment that companies will develop to acomidate these quality blocks. So take your negative energy outa here and get I'm sick ppl like you! Not everyone chooses to go mainstream, or has to have the newest thing out (which you dont!) Some ppl like to be the underdog and make out of TROLL's like you! now just you !!!!!!!!!!!!!

My build:
427-434
AFR 227's (already have them)
13.5-1 compression
E85 1050 Dominator
Super Vic
Nasty Solid Roller 25x/26x @.050
250 shot plate system
car weighs around 2800
driven on the street of course
I would guess it around 675-700 at the wheels N/A
The only out-of-the box heads that could potentially handle the flow would be AFR 210's (comp) or 227's (race or comp), or the new 235's when they release them. Anything else and you'll have to send out for some port work. The TFS 21 degree heads flows pretty good, but not good enough, and the port is pretty damn small to feed a 427 cube motor.

Ummm, a 25x/26x solid roller in a 427 would NOT be "nasty". A 278/285@.050 in a 383 would be "nasty".
ANd even with a six speed and a 10 bolt you est of RWHP is "off"
