Dude, you have ove 4500 posts in just over a year... your a TROLL! If you are truly an LS1 guy, then go hang out with all the other GODS in the rest of this site! As a true LT-1 guy, I am thrilled to see a huge company like Dart cater to my needs. Im sure a set of AFR 210's or 227's for christ sake will handle the breathing. And not to mention, the equipment that companies will develop to acomidate these quality blocks. So take your negative energy outa here and get I'm sick ppl like you! Not everyone chooses to go mainstream, or has to have the newest thing out (which you dont!) Some ppl like to be the underdog and make out of TROLL's like you! now just you !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have an LT1 and I don't see why anyone would build something off of this block instead of building an lsx platform where the aftermarket is 100x bigger with a lot better heads/parts out there. People are breaking 600rwhp with stock bottom end ls7's without a problem and they can be daily driven.
Yes we all know how much better the LSx is. It doesn't need to be brought up in EVERY thread. We all get it. The point is some of us like to do things different, and like the fact that we are the "supposed" underdog out there.

I thought about doing an LSx swap at one point. Then I factored in little things like a new k-member, new headers, radiator, bellhousing, etc.. Good heads for LSx motors are $2200+ easy. If you get a stock 6.0 with all the accesories and PCM, you are good to go, but unless you get most of the components you'll probably end up spenduing more money.

Futhermore I make more power and am faster(quicker) than 75% of 383-408 Lsx engines out there.In a streetcar application.
I WILL eventually go to the LSx platform, but it will be down the road. I cannot justify spending a LOAD of cash for anything less than 150 more NA horsepower(750est) than what I have now. The technology is coming for it for sure. But for now I will enjoy the GOLFBALL sized eyes on people when I open my hood, they see NO spray on the car and then see the Opti-spark and factory ecm.
But with this block, the ability to go 420+ inches, put my topend on it with some more portwork I believe I can make 150 more HP than I have now with my 383.
About the maincaps, good question. Are the Gen1 block nod or billet caps?

Yes he did, in a gutted racecar.I forget what cube hi engine was....a 396?
More impressive to me was Ou812z28 when he ran 9.90's NA on a factory ECM In more of a streetcar. To me it wasnt a streetcar....but Overtons car was a FULL OUT racecar.

Just as stated previously, a lot of people don't want to have to start at ground zero if they already have a lot of supporting parts. With this block costing about the same as machine work on building up a 383/396 then the cost with building a 400+ci LT1 vs 383/396 is not going to much more now, and cheaper than building up an LSx swap to the same power level.

Well the block isn't out yet. Dart just now announced that they will be making them. It will be a few weeks before the first one is available.
Here is info from Dart's site about the SHP blocks:
"The SHP block will easliy support 600 horsepower with a true priority main oiling system, ductile iron main bearing caps (with splayed four bolt caps on the center mains), .625" thick decks with blind head bolt holes, and clearance for long-stroke crankshafts. The decks are even and parallel, and the lifter bores, camshaft and main bearing tunnels are finish machined - just hone the cylinders for piston clearance and assemble!"

Another group that would be able to use this block is the C4 corvette guys. Its very problematic to drop any LS based motor in a C4, especialy if you have a 6 speed manual. The ZF6, the C-beam, trans placement, and CCM all add up to make the swap difficult. I know I'll consider this block when my current motor takes a dump.

Yeah 600 seems really low, there are lots of guys going that on stock blocks that are unfilled.
I'd like to see a block that will hold at least 1500 hp, with a big cube motor and a good set of heads it should be able to put out 550-600 rwhp (I could be wrong) but look at how many guys are putting down 450 rwhp on ported stock heads.
I know there are a handful of guys making 700+ rwhp on the stock block. And if I build one I'd like to see high 500s to low 600s rwhp and still be a streetable car. But if the hp numbers didn't hit those marks I'd like to see the torque make it for sure.
Sorry for rambling on, but my car makes low 400 rwhp and if I build a new dart block I want to get at least 150 rwhp out of it. I know my motor would have a little more with a different cam, but I don't want to push the bottom end too hard, since its still on stock crank and rods.
