Default ABS inop??

well i hoped into my car today to go run some errands. I got about a block away from the house and noticed that my abs inop light was on. When i got to where i was going i shut the car off and let it sit for a few mins. I re-fired it and the light was gone. On my way home the light came on again and hasnt been off since. I tried disconecting the battery and it didnt help. What do i need to do or check?

I believe it may come on if the bulb is bad on your third brake light. It's somehow wired into it. I used to have it come on whenever it rained for some reason, then it'd turn back off a couple days after. Then, after we had some big rain last year, and I let my car sit for a few days while on was on vacation in Arizona, it never came back on after. So, I don't really know what the deal was with it.

Not to hijack thread, but my abs inop light has been on for years. I had it looked at by a shop and they said the code was a rear ground fault. They recommended changing the rear abs electrical harness, so I did and still same deal. I was wondering If I should change the rear abs sensor, thanks! Oh btw I did blow up my diff from launching about the time this started, so that makes me wonder if the rear sensor got damaged.

Mine came on once or twice after I bought the car. I've replaced the rotors all around and not had a problem since.

I have a similar issue here except if I don't take out the little 5 amp fuses under the hood for the ABS, it will occasionally flicker the "brake" and "low trac" lights as well and the ABS will come in and out a bit as I stop once in a rare while. My bet is on a wheel speed sensor as it is obviously getting signal to react/operate from something and the solenoids are working enough to pump the ABS sometimes when stopping. I will get a scan tool on it one of these days and see if i can diagnose a wheel speed sensor or at the very least check/test them.

Mine came on after I put lowering springs on my car..

not sure if it was related to it, or just a coincidence? I figured it was a wheel speed sensor so I havent messed with it.

Mine did this forever, every time i had it checked i changed what it was. so i finally did a ABS delete. Replacing the ABS system was way too expensive, plus weight reduction
