Well first of all, what are your intentions with the car? How far are you planning to go with it. If your only planning 'the usual' H/C LT1 setup and nothing more than the kit above from TPIS would be overkill. They have budget LT1 kits starting at under a grand, you could substitute for forged pistons and be good to go.

# Utilizes Stock 3.48" Stroke Crankshaft (Not Included!)
# Compstar Forged 4340 H-Beam Rods
# Mahle Forged Pistons (-5cc or -16cc)
# Mahle Plasma-Moly 1.5/1.5/3mm Ring Package
# Mahle Steel Pins & Wire Locks
--------------------------------------------------------
Compstar makes good quality budget parts in most peoples minds including mine, mahle pistons are also highly rated across the board.
So you get rods, pistons, and rings for $1195
Compstar rods are $600 or around there alone, not sure on the price of Mahle pistons etc, so may look into that.
