Yes, get 7/16" rocker arm studs and get NSA rr's for a 7/16" stud and pick up some guideplates. You might as well get the EWP and DR timing set. Do it once, do it right.

ARP 134-7103 7/16" rocker arm studs
TFS 30400623-8 guideplates

Cloyes 3145 DR timing set is a popular choice.

Where did you pick up that gasket kit
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
You can get it at Autozone or Summit.

Never said he needed either, said might as well...

He said he wasn't sure if he wanted to install them. Might as well do it now since he will have the front cover off...

Well guys I ordered the rest of the parts tonight. Tell me if I'm missing anything besides incidentals.. (Oil, Coolant, Shop towels, etc).

1605-16 Comp Ultra Pro Magnum Rocker Arms
134-7103 ARP 7/16" Rocker Studs
103 Comp Cam Installation Lube
249-4605 Comp Cam locking plate and bolts
TFS-30400623-8 Trick Flow Hardened Guideplates
FEL-SS72861 Fel-Pro Valve Stem Seals
FEL-MS95580 Fel-Pro Intake Manifold Gasket
FEL-TCS45956 Fel-Pro Timing Cover Gasket Kit
LCT-37421 Loctite 271 High Strength Red thread locking compound
LCT-40463 Loctite RTV Black Gasket Maker Power Can
10128485 Gm Timing Chain
Previously Purchased
Custom XFI Comp Cam
Patriot 8401 BSBC LT1-Specific Dual Gold Valvespring kit

LS1 Lid Setup

All this will be going in at the same time. And a N2O Outlet Plate kit will follow shortly thereafter. Had a nos progressive kit I was gonna put on it but sold that tonight and going to just buy the full kit from n20 outlet and most likely a mallory box to use as a window switch and timing retard.

You should be getting a whole new timing set, not just a new chain.
I'm assuming you have an adjustable pushrod and either a solid lifter or a test spring to measure your pushrod length.
What cam are you installing?

Where did you pick up that gasket kit

Problem wasn't with the camshaft, itself, but with the engine. Karl Ellwein tried two different timing chain/belt setups (one being a Jesel) and two different camshafts and each cam degreed in 8 degrees advances using dot to dot.

He ended up having to use a 6 degree bushing in the RETARD position to bring the cam back into close to the recommended install spec. I have a link to his site if you'd like to read up on all he went through.

I bought my timing chain cover gasket kit from Summit Racing, but I see you've already ordered one.

Sorry for not seeing your question sooner. I'm not getting notified of new responses; what's up with that??

Jake

My buddy has a checking pushrod but I dont have a solid lifter or a test spring.

Those are necessary? I was going to measure just with the stock lifters pumped up

Thanks for the info Jake

Oh and the cam is a custom grind using XFI lobes. I dont want to tell all but the duration is really small compared to what most people run but we still ended up w .565 lift.

It will increase DCR like mad which is one thing I need at my altitude.

Yes, you need either a test spring or a solid lifter to get an accurate pushrod measurment.

My ACE Hardware has an assortment of light springs and I'm sure one of them can be used as a checking spring.
