Default Need help ASAP!

Ok, driving the camaro home from work today (about an hour drive) 10 minutes into it, I hear a squeak and the window fogged up for a second on the bottom of the windshield (have a 4 inch cowl) Figured it was a belt squeak, couple minutes later it does it again, but for the rest of the 45 minute drive it never happened again

Popped my hood once I got home and saw antifreeze that got sprayed around the throttle body area on the passenger side. Just a little but i cleaned it, let it ran for about 15 minutes and saw or heard nothing else?

Any ideas? Im using it as a DD for the summer, so just dont want to end up stranded. Thanks

First thing you need to do is pinpoint the leak. If coolant is spraying, chances are a hose is blown or leaky somewhere. It may not leak at idle because the pump is spinning slowest at idle.

The coolant return line from the heads via the TB (if you haven't done the TB by-pass) to the radiator is suspect. Check it real good. See if you can duplicate the problem with the engine idling...

check your hoses/clamps and maybe your thermostat housing.

yeah, i did the tb bypass already. I was worried maybe my water pump would have been on its way out. Is it possible for the pump being gear driven to squeak? I remember reading theres a purge hole on the water pump that goes when the water pump is shot. is there a way to tell if a water pump is going? Temp was normal on the drive home also

If the water pump is going, the weep hole will leak, not spontaneously erupt.

I'm still going with a hose clamp that has dug into the hose and sprayed your window.

And wow, you DD that thing!?

The weep hole is on the bottom of the housing of the main part of the WP. I have had this happen to me twice. One was right where the hose is permanently clamped on to the steam line to the radiator.

The other time was right past the hard line T where the bleeder valve was located on the line that splits of from the steam line hose to the TB choke return. Good luck on finding it.

I happened to be lucky when it happen to me. I had a some electrical tape and a hose clamp in the car. wrapped the hole with electrical tape and then put the hose clamp on top of it, and tightened it down. Not an ideal way to fix it but it got me home the remainder 20 miles. The other time it happen i did the same thing but i was only 5 minutes away from the house.

Could be a pinhole leak in a hose and the squeak may be when it is spraying out and got on the serpentine belt. Look for a hose that could have sprayed toward where you cleaned it up. A pressure tester may help you find the issue.

Thanks for the help guys! I pressure tested it and found it to be a pinhole on the side of the heater hose bypass cap. Replaced it, now just have to clean the engine.
