Default Thoughts on strut tower brace....

I have a UMI set up on the back of my car and a strut brace on the front, I wanted to know if anyone has any thoughts on if a strut brace will slow a car down drag racing or if would make any difference at all, I took the front sway bar off and now I'm wondering if I'm hurting my times with the brace. Thanks for your input.

I took mine off becuase it made it a pain in the *** to work on the motor (3pt edelbrock brace), and i never put it back on. Does it actually make a noticible difference?

The STB is more for cornering than for drag....It's supposed to keep the towers from flexing inward under hard cornering forces....since you don't see that in drag you may as well leave it off. It is only adding weight after all

My old 3 point (sold it) made no diff in handling and others will tell you the same thing. Now when I put the double diamond subframe connectors on it made a world of difference.

I put mine on a thousand years ago but it tightened up the front end for sure.

it does get in the way but its only 4 nuts to take off... it felt like the front wasnt as curious in the bends and people say it helps with understeer. that and it looks pretty bad *** i have to say

What most forget is if you don't have the suspension and tires to accommodate a STB then you will be doing nothing you will notice. It must be taken into consideration that even though the main purpose of the brace is to increase rigidity on the strut towers it is also to aide in keeping stress of the many spot welds assisting in a rattle free chassis over time.

Who says it aint for drags,....

keeps your shock towers in place when you come down after wheel stands.

My take as mentioned, subframe makes a big difference, strut tower brace is pretty much a waste of time. I wouldn't say so if I hadn't tried it. Even the chassis experts will tell you to spend that money elsewhere and leave that mod for last if at all. But if it makes you happy, go for it. I don't let others dictate my mod choices either.

Thanks for all the input, I got the thing when I bought my other car and just stuck it on the my car so no cost really. But the wheels in the air is not a problem lol, one day maybe.

I think it helps to keep the front end level on hard wheels up launches, and doesnt twist the stut towers. IMO but I have no proof to back it up either. LOL! Ive been debating if I should take it off.
