If you want the ideal cam only cam, you will design it yourself...

If you want an off the shelf offering, both companies will do well for you.

I bet you haven't even called and talked to them both, have you?

I have, and I can tell you that they were BOTH a pleasure to speak with on the phone. I do have to say that Lloyd was AWESOME though. He even called me back with more ideas on what we had been talking about, and I've probably talked to him over half a dozen times for long periods and haven't even bought anything yet.

Ron at AI was very helpful and answered all my questions as well.

I personally feel that for a cam only car, you can only do so much. AI would probably steer you towards a little more race oriented cam that would make higher peak numbers and run a good time at the track.

Whereas Lloyd may be a tad more conservative and set you up with a cam that would be an awesome street cam and make the car super fun to drive, but give up a few peak HP to the AI spec'd jobber. (so what)

I can tell you from talking to Lloyd that he is very much one of us, he has his own LT car and works on and races it, just like we do.

I don't know if that's the case with AI, but they sound to me like a great group of guys, who are smart and have some stuff figured out with airflow inside an LT1 head, but don't necessarily get greasy hands under the hood every wknd.

Call and talk to them, and your choice will become more clear, and lastly: dont leave the cam choice up to either company. Figure out what YOU want and how to obtain that, then work with a builder to achieve that.

Lloyd was more than happy to provide me with the company info of the lobes he uses, and direct me to their full lobe catalog so we could run simulations on the different lobes and come up with the perfect cam for me. He even helped me calculate such things as DCR, overlap, etc etc etc... and what would work best for me.

I ended up going with a custom XFI lobed cam but I can't think Lloyd enough for all his help and he WILL be getting my business in the future. Same with AI, there will be some of their parts hanging off my car too.

You guys get too clannish, they BOTH are great companies and BOTH make great product.

I think this question has been answered. My suggestion is to personally call both of them and decide for yourselves. I am going to close this thread now before it gets out of control.
