Default Jet hot coated headers and smokes and stinks

I just got my headers and Y put on. They are Pacesetters that have been jet hot coated. I started the car and it was smoking pretty bad and smells like ***. Is it something with the coated headers making the smoke? Also what did you all do about the fuel lines? they seem really close to the Y pipe?

Did you let the headers make a full heat cycle? A lot of the smoke your seeing is stuff burning off the headers, oil and grease from working on the car that got on your hands, pretty common. Let them make a full heat cycle and the smoke should go away, far as fuel lines, heat wrap works well.

yea I let it run for a while. The smoke was from the exhaust pipe coming out the back. It did have some smoke from crap burning off the headers but most of it was coming out the back. I thought maybe there was oil or something on the inside of the pipes or something. As for the fuel lines should I just get some header wrap type of stuff?

I'm sure is just the coating heating for the first time, should be fine. Look on Jegs or Summitt, they have all sorts of heat wrap for lines in different diameters and to withstand different heat. Try to relocate the best you can and wrap the rest up.

yup. i remember when i started mine for the first time. very weird stinky smell. It took a few days for that smell to leave my interior. Just give it a few days and everything will be back to normal
