Default Taking off the opti.....

Of course the lower bolt hits the crank pulley. How important is this bolt? Can I cut out a part of the plastic around the head of the bolt or can I cut it off all together and put another in once I can get the tool to remove the crank pulley? Will I need that bolt if I do not want to replace it?

You're not supposed to cut anything lol. Remove the balancer and unbolt the opti

remove the crank pulley, remove the 3 bolts holding the opti on, and remove it. you may have to turn the hub a few degrees to get the opti out.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Why would you cut anything???!!! BAD JUJU! The crank pulley is only held on by 3 bolts...Thankfully mine was easy and I didnt even need a pulley puller...2 soft taps with a rubber mallet and it was loose...If yours is on too tight then use a pulley puller to take it off then turn the hub so that the opti will slide right out...

You can borrow a pulley puller from Auto Zone, Advance Auto, etc pretty cheap. DO NOT CUT...are you insane??!! lol

ok i feel stupid but i have this problem on the old motor. and the pulley puller doesnt pull off the balancer. i might be wrong but it looks lik the spot in the middle where the puller pushes seems to be part of the balancer? ive pulled balancers befor and had no problems but this one wont come off.

When in doubt pull it out......saw that is! It was late and I was tired of f**king with the bolt, it was all the way out except for abot 1/16-1/32 of an inch. The crank bolts were out and the opti just hanging there. I guess I will get a puller and do it the right way.....damn it!

for the other guy. make sure the claws are not on the hub itself. you want to be on just the pulley

i didnt even have to use a puller, Mine comes right off after removing the three bolts that hold it to the crank hub. the only time i had to use a puller was when removing the actual hub. When removing that though dont put the actual tip of the center bolt of the puller in the hole where the bolt that holes the hub on. You will tear up the bold or bend the bolt. Or maybe even twist the tip of it off in the bolt hole. Ask me how i know
