Tips for removing Y pipe
Ive come to the conclusion that I need to remove the Y Pipe to get to the number 8 and 6 plugs. My hands and arms are just too big. From what I can tell I think the nuts on the bolts are 9/16 (6 total).
I just want a litle advice on removing this thing never did it before.

Drop the starter and you will be able to get the #8 no problem. Not sure about the #6, but I don't recall having any problems with it when I changed them out right after I bought mine. But the #8 is just plain easy with the starter dropped.

Drop the starter and remove it out the way or completely remove it?

y would the y pipe be in the way of the spark plugs especially when the headers sit further that 8" away from the block anyway, making the y pipe have nothing to do with the plug removal unless your pulling the headers off....just pull the starter off it will be ur best and easiest bet...

If you are getting the plugs from the bottom, it is much easier to get at them if you remove the y pipe, there is more room to work in from down there with it gone. I've always removed mine when I mess with it, but then again I had to replace it with my cat, so I already had it off once. Be prepared to deal with broken studs, however, as that is a likely occurence. Be careful, and use plenty of penetrating lube.
