The main problem is the optispark on the LT1. 95 and up have a vented opti which solved most of the problem. Also your car does not have a 383 unless someone has stroked it out to that. Good luck man...have fun.

x a million IMHO i wouldnt get anything but a 95+ unless you hate driving in the rain (because the car wont start in the rain)

so i spoke with the seller. i guess the optispark is like the 4th gen replacement of the distributor ignition, correct? also, he verified it is not a 383, he meant he has a 383 crank for sale, but already been bored out, mild camshaft, and roller rockers on the LT1 350. car is a m6 trans, t tops. some kind of Copper color...anybody know what color this is???? he said its about 3 shades darker than SOM... which i know what that color is. overall, small tear in the seat, crack in center the dash, its not too bad from what i can see.
Just needs a little detailing and cleaning. thanks for any input you can give me.
Im also looking for any body electrical problems or any other BS we get with these cars sometimes, do 3rs gen rules for "stupid" problems usually work?
He said idiot lights are on, low coolant light (changed sensor and didnt fix the problem), and the ASR (?) light, not sure what that is.

Does look good. I would guess Cayanne metallic. Check out the window motors, check and see how well the ttops and windows line up, make sure it doesnt leak oil, that is all I can think of at the moment.

Too much $$$$ IMO...

When I was LS shopping 3 years ago I came across a 94 vert in PERFECT condition with 86k for 5 even.

The ASR light I am not sure of but the low coolant light is another faulty GM design. Alot of LT1's have that light on 24/7 normally happens right after a fluid change. I have a 94 lt1 TA and 00 ls1 TA and love them both in their own ways. I wrecked my lt1 and it about killed me lol. I think 4,500 sounds high tho for a cloth car but if he has rebuilt the motor recently and has all documents it would be worth it. The opti is a huge pita but I grabbed a MSD opti for $500 and solved that problem. My original non vented opti lasted 10yrs and 125k miles as a daily driver in ohio rain and all .

That's BS. I had a 93 for a couple years and put 23k miles on it and never had it not start in the rain. I didn't drive through standing water or anything stupid either though.

What year and how many miles? My dad picked up a fully loaded with leather interior bone stock 93 T/A with 126,000 miles with only a cracked dash for $2,000. Everything works fine, still running the stock opti too. The car had no oil leaks, both headlights still work and the leather seats are not torn. The car now has 149,xxx miles, full exhaust and intake mods with a 3200 stall converter on the stock tranny and running like a beast. The exterior and interior on that car seem to be in decent shape, nice color too, but For $4,500 I would expect it to be a 97 car without any dummy lights turned on. As for the torn seat, my 02 and my buddy's 02 both have torn leather seats, that seems to be a problem with tall and fat assed people, which I happen to be both. If you like what you see and like how it runs then to you it might be worth it. For that price I would save a little more and look at some 98 ls1 cars. And to answer your question the only problem the lt1's are really known for is the opti spark distributor. Other than that good luck with your choice making.
