Default Y-Pipe Catted?

Hey guys, this is absolutely a retarded thread for some of you, but many, it may help.

I need a catted Y-Pipe. Stock one was cut out before I had the car, and I dont plan on doing headers, yet.

I'm looking for a direct fit. I did a search and didnt really find anything. I think magnaflow offers one, but I'm not 100% on it. May need the intermediate pipe.

I believe Magnaflow does sell direct fit catted y-pipes. I believe '93-'95 share the same y-pipe (single cat). '96-'97 yipe is different with dual cats.

I have the stock '97 y-pipe with dual cats in my garage if you are interested. Cat's are probabably hollowed out.

I think after a certain month, the 1995's went dual, because they have 2 part numbers for 1995. Need to check 1996 and 1994 to see for sure.

Of course, mine is the single cat. I do want a functioning catalytic converter, I'm cleaning the car up, and not just for performance but drivability as well, and may move out of state at some point so the emissions will work for me.

God damn car is too loud as it sits w/o a cat now anyways!

I'll do magnaflow direct fit and a magnaflow catback, and probably have a decent sound and performance.

Will I need a pipe btw the two, or is it going to be a driveway job?

It sits with stock manifolds, cat delete, stock y, flowmaster with 3.5" slash cut tips. google Z71 w/o cats and a flowmaster. same sound. FML

On that note, I'm a retard, and just realized the 1997 SS's had ram air...sorta.. Worth it, or indifferent. car has it so just go with it?

Installing the y-pipe is a drive way job. But to get the y-pipe to match your cat back might require a trip to the local exhaust shop for a quick weld. But if you already have the stock y-pipe in place, why not just buy a cat and have it welded in?

I'm not sure what you are asking about your intake...
So you already have a ram air set up on your car? If so, I'd keep it the way it is.

Negative on intake, j/w about the stock ss stuff.

I wont do the weld in cat. Feels like a half *** job. I like bolt on stuff, feels more complete. Plus that Magnaflow System isnt that bad priced. Buying a weld in cat and having it installed may cost just as much.

Negative on intake, j/w about the stock ss stuff. I was inquiring if it was worth trying to find the SS intake setup and buying a functional style SS hood.

It's not half *** at all, if you have it welded in nicely, it will be the same as new. You can get a universal cat for much cheaper thatn the 400+ price tag of the Magnaflow catted y.

As far as the intake goes, just get a LT1 CAI (k&n, slp, moroso, etc.).

Check Link for price.

EDIT:
1994 was single cat, 1996 was dual. 1995 First half was single, last half was dual.

Oh, ok, I thought they were much more, it's not a bad price.
