Is this really high or expected?
Ok, I correct myself it will go for 450K in 30 years with the way our dollar is going as due to inflation that may be the same as 100Kish.
Conparing a Yenko to the 4th gen SS is no way near the same. Just look at the base model production #'s for the 70's vs 90's as even if this was one of a 100 there was still way more base models produced which should bring down the value a tad.

If that car will go for 450K in 30 years, I will keep my '93 nothing special car as it should be worth about 75K by then using that method of logic. It's the first year of the new body style right? Number 17,482...

Fully restored Gullwings go for less than that, there is NO WAY a 4th gen will ever be worth that, unless it is the VERY LAST ONE.
Or you're just an idiot who likes to pay wayyyyyy too much for things.

LOL...
I wish him the best of luck... but it seems to me that it's about 45 grand too high.
With that said, I wouldn't buy it for 30 grand... but I'm not a collector. But by the same token, I'm not buying a 2010 either.

I was just sharing this thread with my dad and he thoughtit was funny, he said this is the same thing people said back in the 60's and early 70's about the early muscle cars. How they would never be worth what people thought they would. Now look at them lol. I'll almost guarantee this car will be worth a lot in years to come. For any "true" muscle car collector looking to aquire one of the rarest factory F-bodies ever made this would definitely be a candidate. You have to remember most "true" collectors (which probably doesn't include any of us guys in here lol) have the means to spend that kind of money. It's nothing for one to spend $75k-100 large on a collectors car.
You also have to keep in mind that the car is located in CANADA. Their dollar is worth more than ours. If that price is CDN, then it is much lower in American dollars.
i could go either way with this one to be honest. part of me says that there's no way a 4th gen will ever be worth that kind of money
but the other part of me feels that eventually, car collectors will have to get past the 60's and 70's to find cars to collect. eventually you have to believe that these will be cars that people are collecting and people are restoring. maybe that's a hope, but i guess i'll be keeping every stock part i can off of my car with the intent to put it back to stock in the future.
being the first lt4 to roll off the line, i could very easily see it pulling 75 grand. if he can't get that price from ebay, take it barrett jackson and sell it for twice that...since, imo, they have killed car collecting for the average joe

I think it's maybe not worth quite that much, but probably at least 35,000 to a collector. The '97 LT4 4th gens were extremely rare, I think only 101 SSs made and 69 Firebirds, IIRC.
SS RRR, you say this can't be worth anything because it's just like any 4th gen out there. That's where you're wrong, at least in the eyes of a collector. Why do you think an all-original 426 Challenger convertible might pull half a million but someone's project 383 car with a blown crate 426 etc. might only be worth 40 or 50k? Collectors care about originality, production numbers, etc. To me or you it might be "just another Camaro", but to some rich person with more dollars than sense, it matters.

I think its just overpriced, but if I was rich I would still get it "just in case". Fourth gens were not nearly as popular as first gens were, so I doubt there will be a collectors market for it in the future even if it is a rare car. Who knows?
The US dollar is worth slightly more then the CAD, which is why less US dollars buys the same thing as a higher amount of CAD. Currently 1 US dollar is worth 1.10662 CAD
. The last time it dropped under it was over a year ago, and that was like 1US=.999CAD.
. The last time it dropped under it was over a year ago, and that was like 1US=.999CAD. Is my 93 worth anything since it is the first year and strangely optioned? Nope, I couldnt even get back what I have in the topend if I sold the whole thing!
The car is worth more than your average late model camaro. However, it is not worth anywhere near what is being asked for the car. No late model camaro with the exception of the ZL1 will really ever be worth much. Collector car`s died in the 70`s basically. I am an owner of a 67 RS/SS 350 Camaro that is highly optioned and my car is not worth that much. I`ve owned 2 other first gen camaros and never got any where near that price for the cars. I also owned a very low mileage 01 WS6 Trans Am that I didn`t get a lot for when I sold it. The car, at best, will only be worth it`s original sticker price and that`s on a good day.
To some millioniaire that collects cars and had a brand new 97 Z when he was 16 but always dreamed about having the very first LT4 SS would pay 75K in a heartbeat!! Its worth it to someone. Just not any of us.......
I doubt it would ever pull half a mil though.

collector cars died in the 70's? i'm going to have to disagree here. as long as cars are made...people are going to collect them. puck...your car may not be worth much now, but sometime it will be worth money. i honestly believe that
ive i was filthy rich i wouldnt have a problem dropping 75K, but for that price i better be the first one EVER to rip a fart in the virgin interior... thats all im sayin.
but really 75k it had better be in IMACCULAT condition, absolutly NO scratches, swirls or dirt of any kind.

The difference is that most collector cars, rare or not, were popular in their time. Fourth gens were not...if they were, they would not have stopped making them.

Fact of the matter is there's nothing special or "all original" about a 1997 f-body sitting on a chassis that was used 15 years before its inception on one other generation f-body with a 350 small block chevy engine taken from the LT4 Corvette. The only COLLECTOR I could see paying that retarded price is someone of Arab descent to fill a space of their garage. Face it, there is nothing about a 4th gen f-body, no matter how you sell it that is special because there are still so damned many of them in existence.
