Traitor..

J/p..nice car. They do look like Iroc Wheels..first thing I thought. They were designed for a 3rd Gen, they stick out too much.

Yeah cause third gens actually had some fender shape to them.

I've got too much in mine, I'd have to LS swap it someday if I were to ever decide I want a LS motor. Plus if I got a LS1 car I would have to swap the hideous front end off of it for a LT1.

Well Im glad your grabing a TA and M6, but sad your leaving the LT1.
I sold my old 97 Formula for a brand new 00 Formula off the dealers lot. Even though it was faster mod per mod then my 97 it still felt slower and I was never really impressed, so I sold it and bought a truck ! Then I picked up my 96 Ws6 and it was way faster mod per mod then either of the old cars. (13.32 with a cat back and DRs)
I hope the first LT1 you race beats you!!! lol!!!!! jk!!

I hope you found a good deal! jesus all the nice ls1 black 01-02 Trans Am Ws6 (my dream car) with <45,000 miles are between $16,000-$22,000 around here! Jesus I could buy my new rear, finish my suspension, rebuild my engine, heads/cam/intake, and even do a front end 02 ws6 conversion on my 97! Those things must have definitely went up in value after I last looked! More incentive for me to keep my first love as I doubt I could ever get rid of my Bird

Well, it's not low miles. It's got less miles than the LT1, but not low by any means. It's right around average for a '98. I'm getting it for $5700, which is about $2k less than book for it. It's going to be hard getting rid of the LT1, because I've put a decent amount of money into it, in the past year, and I still love the car. But, I always wanted a T/A, and the LSX platform is just too hard to pass up at the price. I did get the loan approved today, so I'm going to head up tonight to get the car. Then, when I get back from vacation Sunday night, start swapping parts over.

Yeah, I thought about an LS swap into the Camaro, because I like the LT1 Camaro front end better than the LS1. But, when it comes to the T/A's, I like the LS1 front end better. I'm not the biggest fan of the pointy LT1 nose.

Nice, deffinately loose the wheels on the TA and get some drop to it, you will need it when the 18s go on. Congrats on the purchace. A friend of mine here had a 98 SS black on black, 6 speed, lid, 4.10s, Hooker LTs, ORY, Borla, Centerforce clutch for $4500. Had some slight cosmetic damage, but basically just scratches. If I wouldn't have got laid off I would have bought it in a second, my truck is almost paid off so it really wouldn't have been any more money.

I have though about getting rid of my car for an LS1, but I have too much invested into it to get rid of it and start over. I will swap to a 6.0 stroker motor in the next few years and keep my clean LTx body

BTW to make you feel a little better about the deal you got on your car....

A local dealership has a 95 Z28 6 speed T-top car, bone stock besides a flowmaster muffler, with 120k miles for $6000 and they won't budge on the price. The car is spotless and black on black, but I could not see spending $6k on it.

Congrats again, and I'm looking foward to seeing some pics of the TA

that's a hell of a deal, although I'd keep the lt1. i love the low end tq.

i got my z28 for $4200 with a diff motor (still lt1) with only 50k on it.
plus the guy told us that he didn't have any use for the old lt1 with 148k on it, so we could have it. luckily he had a cherry picker, so we loaded it up too and got it home.
old motor only had a blown head gasket, but had all the electronics missing off of it, so it would have been a bitch to get all those back, so i just sold it as is for $400, still.. 100% profit, i was happy. lol

My buddy is selling his 00 camaro right now for $4000, it runs really great except the tranny needs some work (M6) has a bad *** paint job, Im in the middle of my motor build or i would have already got it. Not to replace my LT1 though, just add to my garage. Her is a few pics of it

I might switch over if I find a good deal. I just prefer the 01-02's because they are known to have stronger blocks. Nice thing about LSx block is that building them IMO is easy as hell to make them fast. The main reason why I want to stick with my LT1 is the low end torque and the fact that there aren't too many clean ones of them around here anymore but I see LSx models up the *** around here!

Wish I could trade off the optispark and higher mileage on my car though

You seem to have gotten one hell of a deal

No problem Lance. Pics should be up early next week. I'm taking off for the Ozarks here in a little while, so the car's going to be resting in the garage for a few days. lol

Did you already get an Opti for it? If not, I've got a spare one I picked up last week with less than 3k on it, that I'll let go for a decent price. It's an actual GM opti also, not a cheap ebay one.
